Sierra’s new Fabric Protector is both hydrophobic as well as lightly oleophobic, helping to repel sweat and light oils as well as water. Fabric treated with Fabric Protector remains as breathable as before it was treated.

Application

Fabric to be treated must be clean and dry for the product to work properly. Using an applicator pad, spray Sierra Fabric Protector liberally to the area to be treated, and work into the fabric thoroughly a section at a time with the applicator pad. Let dwell for 20 minutes and then apply a second light spray without using the applicator pad. Drying time and curing time are very different, with drying time normally half an hour to a couple of hours. Curing time is at least 24 hours but on some fabrics can be up to 48 hours, but this is rare. Once the fabric is dry however, the item can be used in the usual manner.

Sierra’s Fabric Protector can be used on suede, however, DO NOT use an applicator pad, and do not spray liberally. Instead use a soft brush to align the fibers in one direction, and then apply a light spray. Let the suede dry for half an hour and brush the opposite direction, then another light spray and allow to dry.

The Basics

Sierra’s new Fabric Protector is PFOA, PFOS and APEO free, and no longer requires a hydrocarbon solvent as the carrier. The safest carrier of all – water is now combined with a nano polymer that offers the protection without the hazards. Because water is used as the carrier, a longer curing time is required. In commercial applications, the longer curing time will have some small impact on the procedures used by contractors, however the benefits far outweigh the inconvenience.
