GO BOX 5,500L Self Bunded Tank: A Powerful Partner in the Parnell Sinkhole Recovery
GO Industrial New Zealand Supplies Diesel Tank to Support Parnell Sinkhole Recovery Effort
It's all-systems-go when a 13 meter deep, by 2 meter wide sinkhole cracks open and crushes a major sewer line in Auckland, New Zealand. Several olympic swimming pools worth of raw sewerage have been spilling into the harbour each and every day.
The sinkhole has caused significant damage to infrastructure and property in the area, and has also forced the closure of several businesses. The Auckland Council is currently working to repair the sewer line and fill in the sinkhole, it is an ardous task and there is a huge ongoing effort to rectify the extensive damage.
The solution? A rapid response, comprised of several hundred metres of emergency pipes, powered by a highly capable remote pump station. Needless to say, it's one of the biggest waste water and sewerage challenges New Zealand has faced.
Pump Hire Ltd is a leading provider of pump hire and rental services in New Zealand. Pump Hire is heavily involved in the Parnell sinkhole recovery effort, providing the remote pumping station, switched into overdrive to decrease the volume of waste and help clear the site of water and debris. Pump Hire's pumps are powered by diesel, so the GO BOX-5.5 5.5kL Self Bunded Diesel Tank is an essential cog in the machine to keep them running.

The GO BOX is a Self Bunded Diesel Tank. A Self Bunded tank, also known as a double-walled tank or bunded tank, is a type of storage tank that has two walls. The inner wall is the primary tank, which stores the liquid, and the outer wall is a secondary tank, which serves as a containment system in case of a leak. The space between the two walls is called the bund or interstitial space, and it is designed to hold 110% of the volume of the inner tank.
Being self bunded, the GO BOX protects the environment from any risk of contamination that could result from a leak from the primary tank. The durable construction of the GO BOX ensures that it can withstand the rigors of a quick deployment in emergency situations such as the Parnell sinkhole incident.
The GO BOX is fully baffled, allowing the tank to be transported to site or moved around site with diesel fuel in the tank. The design features certified lifting lugs which allows all models of BOX Self Bunded Tanks, up to the BOX-6.6 6,600L, to be lifted when full of diesel fuel.
