Our GO-to Guide for Dialing in your Bead Guns & Pressurised Bead System
How to Determine Bead Application Pressure
When using a Pressurised Bead System with your Graco LineLazer, it's essential to accurately determine the bead application pressure. This ensures optimal bead coverage and prevents waste.
Key Factors:
- Line Width: Wider lines require more beads.
- Bead Size: Larger beads require a larger nozzle and higher pressure.
- Bead Delivery Rate: This is determined by the desired bead coverage and is typically specified in job specifications.
Steps to Determine Pressure:
- Determine Speed: Establish the speed at which the machine will be traveling when applying the line.
- Identify Bead Delivery Rate: Refer to the job specifications to find the required bead delivery rate for the line width.
- Select Nozzle Size: Locate the closest nozzle size in the table below that matches the bead delivery rate you calculated in Step 2.
- Set Pressure: Find the corresponding pressure for the selected nozzle size in the table. Adjust the air regulator on your Pressurised Bead System to this pressure.
Example:
If you're applying a 4-inch line at 6 mph and need a bead delivery rate of 6 lb/gal, and you're using a 0.234 nozzle, you would set the tank pressure to 15 psi.
Additional Considerations:
- Verification: Always verify flow rates using a stopwatch and a scale to ensure accuracy.
- Larger Beads: For larger beads, you may need to use a larger nozzle and higher pressure.
- Wider Lines: For wider lines, multiply the bead delivery rate for a 4-inch line by the appropriate factor (e.g., 2 for 8-inch lines, 3 for 12-inch lines).
By following these steps and referring to the provided table, you can effectively determine the bead application pressure for your Graco LineLazer V 200HS and achieve optimal results.
So, now you know how to dial in the perfect bead application pressure with your Graco LineLazer! Getting those lines crisp and the bead coverage just right is crucial for professional results, and following these steps will help you achieve that every time. Remember, accurate pressure means less waste, better visibility, and ultimately, a more profitable job.
