  • Hose ID and pressure drop?

    Undersized hose drops pressure at the tool end. 1/4 inch drops ~5 PSI per 3m at 3,000 PSI. 3/8 inch drops ~2 PSI per 3m. Use 3/8 inch on longer runs (15+ m) at commercial pressure to keep pressure at the gun.

  • How long can I run before pressure drop matters?

    On a commercial pressure washer at 3,000 PSI: ~15 m of 3/8 inch hose is fine. Beyond 30 m total hose length, even 3/8 inch starts dropping pressure noticeably. Check the pump's max-hose-length spec before extending.

  • Quick-connect compatibility?

    Match the quick-connect fitting to the tool / unit at both ends. Standard pressure washer M22 + 3/8 inch QC vs Graco airless BlueMax II thread are NOT interchangeable. Mixing fittings causes pressure loss or leaks.

  • What connection types and thread standards are used with hose extensions & reels?

    Australian fluid handling equipment predominantly uses BSP (British Standard Pipe) threads in sizes from 1/4" to 3" BSP. Some imported equipment uses NPT (National Pipe Thread) — adapters are available but check thread type before connecting. Cam-lock fittings (Type A through F) are standard for quick-connect hose couplings on tanks and bowsers. Flanged connections (ANSI 150#, AS 4087 Table D/E) are used on larger installations. Always verify thread type, size and pressure rating before assembly to prevent cross-threading or leaks.
