FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • Mark V XT or Mark X HD: which texture sprayer?

Mark V XT covers Level 5 plaster finish, roof restoration membrane and acrylic textures up to roughly 4.5 LPM through a 3 in 8 inch hose with a texture gun included. Mark V HD 3-in-1 (17E663 ProContractor, 17E629 IronMan) covers roof restoration + texture + heavy coatings. Mark X HD ProContractor and Standard Series cover the high-volume daily commercial texture / plaster tier

  • What is the 3-in-1 capability?

Mark V HD and Mark X HD '3-in-1' unit cover three application classes from one unit: texture spray, paint spray, and high-build coating. Same unit, different gun and tip setup per application. Saves the cost of separate dedicated unit on contractors who do all three. The Mark V texture gun has 4x more flow area than the standard airless gun for viscous material.

  • Mark V pump inlet advantage over 1095 PC?

Mark V (XT and HD variants) has the pump inlet at the BOTTOM of the suction hose. The 1095 PC has the pump inlet mounted higher. Net effect: Mark V achieves a drastically increased flow rate for viscous materials because the pump is pulling material from a lower head than 1095 PC. The 1095 PC is optimised for large volumes of water-based paint where flow rate is high but viscosity is low - the inlet-higher design works fine there. For viscous Level 5 plaster, roof membrane and acrylic texture, Mark V is the right call. For very viscous materials use 1/2 inch x 15 m hose out of the manifold and step down to 3/8 inch x 15 m for the second length with a joining nipple.

  • Sand or stone: which Mark?

Neither. Mark V XT and Mark X HD are designed for non-aggregate viscous materials. Sand and stone aggregate cannot go through a standard airless tip. For sand and stone aggregate, the Graco ToughTek M680a (262927) is purpose-built - it's a hopper piston pump for high-viscosity mortar mixed with sand (2-part epoxy mortars and similar). For cementitious materials, ToughTek F340e (Xypex Concentrate confirmed). For acrylic textures without aggregate, RTX5500PX is the right call.

  • Do you supply texture nozzles and spare parts?

Yes. See the Texture Spare Parts collection for the Mark family pump repair kits, prime valves, carbide seat kits (for abrasive-material unit use - extends service interval significantly on Mark V and Mark X HD running texture / plaster), pump housing washers and standard wear parts. RTX5500PX nozzle set (3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 mm + WideTex 4 mm) ships with the unit. Order the matched repair kit on first delivery so the unit is not down on a leaking pump during a commercial texture spray.

Choosing the Right Texture or Plaster Sprayer

Graco TexSpray Mark V, Mark V XT, Mark X HD electric airless texture sprayers for texture, plaster, drywall mud and Level 5 finish work. The Mark family is the industry-standard unit for texture / plaster / drywall on commercial and residential construction.

Mark V XT HD 3-in-1: Level 5 plaster, roof restoration. Graco Mark V XT HD 3-in-1 (Hi-Boy Standard and ProContractor variants) is the Level 5 plaster finish unit. Oversized pump inlet at the bottom of the suction hose (drastically increased flow rate for viscous materials vs the 1095 PC inlet-higher design), 3/8 inch hose standard, texture gun included (4x more flow area than standard airless gun). The OG Mark V has been discontinued; Mark V XT is the current model with a lighter, more powerful motor. Vortex pump fitted, packings around 6 times longer than standard piston-pump.

Mark V HD 3-in-1: roof restoration + texture. Graco Mark V HD 3-in-1 (ProContractor Series 17E663, IronMan Series 17E629) covers roof restoration membrane + texture + heavy coatings in one unit. Same unit class as Mark V XT but with different feature sets per series.

Mark X HD 3-in-1. Graco Mark X HD 3-in-1 (ProContractor and Standard Series variants) is the high-capacity sibling for high-volume daily texture / plaster work.

Sand and stone: NOT Mark V. Mark V XT and Mark X HD are designed for non-aggregate viscous materials (Level 5 plaster, roof restoration membrane, acrylic textures up to roughly 4.5 LPM). Sand and stone aggregate requires the Graco ToughTek range (F340e for cementitious, M680a for high-viscosity mortar with sand). Standing rule from Graco technical: you cannot spray any product with sand or stone aggregate through a standard airless tip.

RTX5500PX for acrylic textures (no aggregate). Graco RTX5500PX (in this collection) is purpose-built for acrylic textures - cork render, small-medium aggregate, smooth membranes. Kit includes 1/4 inch x 25 ft material hose, 3/8 inch x 25 ft air hose, Heavy Duty Texture Gun, nozzle set (3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 mm round + WideTex Adapter with 4 mm). Cannot handle sand or stone products. For sand/stone, ToughTek M680a.
