FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • Self-bunded or separate-bunded?

Self-bunded fuel tanks have integrated outer bund containing 110% of inner tank volume - automatic spill containment, AS 1940 compliant, no separate bund construction needed. Separate-bunded (above-ground tank inside concrete bund) requires bund construction but suits larger capacities. Self-bunded is the standard for ute + farm + remote site up to 10,000 L.

  • AS 1940 + AS 3780?

AS 1940 covers storage + handling of flammable + combustible liquids (diesel, petrol, oil). AS 3780 covers chemicals. Compliance is the operator's responsibility. Always check local council + EPA + fire department before installing fixed bulk storage above 1,000 L.

  • Tank fluid compatibility?

Steel tanks for diesel + heavy oil + general fuel. Polyethylene for AdBlue + chemical + water + corrosive. Stainless for food-grade. Match tank material to fluid - wrong material causes corrosion + contamination.

  • How long can I store diesel in a tank?

Diesel has a typical shelf life of 6-12 months in standard storage and up to 12-24 months with appropriate fuel-conditioning treatments. Storage life depends on temperature stability, water exclusion (a filtered breather is essential), and the absence of microbial contamination. For long-term storage, fit the tank with a clean-and-dry filter kit at the dispense point and treat the fuel with a biocide and stability additive. Modern ULSD (ultra-low sulphur diesel) is more prone to microbial growth than older diesel grades.

  • How are industrial tanks delivered and installed?

Smaller self-bunded tanks (GO BOX up to 6,600 L) ship with crane lifting lugs and 4-way forklift pockets and craft into place by truck-mounted crane in under an hour. Larger units (GO STORE, GO CON containerised) ship CSC-plated as standard ISO containers and are positioned by side-loader, semi-low-loader, or rail. Installation includes positioning, levelling, plumbing the dispense point, electrical connection if pumped, and AS 1940 signage. Site preparation (concrete pad, separation distances, fire extinguisher) is the customer's responsibility unless specified otherwise.

Storage Tanks

16 storage tanks for diesel, AdBlue, petrol, oil, water and chemical storage. Self-bunded fuel tanks, IBC tanks, above-ground storage tank assemblies and dedicated chemical tanks. Compliant with AS 1940 (storage and handling of flammable + combustible liquids) and AS 3780 (chemical storage).

Tank type selection. Self-bunded fuel tanks have an integrated outer bund containing 110 percent of inner tank volume - automatic spill containment, AS 1940 compliant. IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) 1,000 L tanks for transport + temporary storage. Above-ground tanks for fixed installation with separate bunding. Match the tank to the fluid + site + duration of storage.

Compliance + permit. Diesel storage above 1,000 L typically needs a fire department permit and site assessment. AdBlue + chemical storage has separate compliance under AS 3780. Always check local council + EPA requirements before installing fixed bulk storage.
