FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • Why HEPA?

HEPA removes 99.97% of particles 0.3 micron and larger. Required for silica + crystalline particulate work under Safe Work AU exposure 0.05 mg/m3. Lower-rated filters pass fine dust back to the operator.

  • Sizing?

Flow rate matches the sander's air requirement. Single sander 200-300 m3/h. Multi-sander production 500+ m3/h. Mirka extractor range covers single through multi-station.

  • Replace filter?

Filter replacement at the spec interval (typically 6-12 months on daily use). Don't run beyond spec - clogged filter drops suction + lets fine dust through.

  • What Makes Mirka's Dust Free Sanding Technology Stand Out?

Mirka's dust-free sanding technology is a new solution that transforms how sanding is done, enhancing both efficiency and workshop safety. Using advanced dust extractors paired with their innovative Abranet® sanding discs, Mirka ensures that dust is captured directly at the source. This not only keeps the work area clean but also significantly reduces airborne particles that could pose health risks.

The benefits are high-performing. Dust-free sanding improves visibility during tasks, resulting in smoother, more precise finishes. It also cuts down on cleanup time, allowing you to focus on what truly matters—producing high-quality work. Additionally, the reduced dust exposure protects machinery from abrasive build-up, prolonging your tools' lifespan.

  • What is the difference between L-class, M-class and H-class dust extractors?

Dust classes are defined by AS/NZS 60335.2.69 based on occupational exposure limits (OELs). L-class captures dust with OEL above 1 mg/m3 (low hazard, e.g. household dust). M-class captures dust with OEL above 0.1 mg/m3 (medium hazard, e.g. wood dust, paint dust, most construction dusts). H-class captures dust with OEL at or below 0.1 mg/m3 (high hazard, e.g. asbestos, silica). Most trade and industrial sanding applications require M-class minimum. Mirka extractors in this range are M-class rated.
