FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • Drip tray or IBC bund?

Drip tray for individual drum + machine spill containment - small capacity (10-100 L). IBC bund for 1,000 L IBC tank containment - integrated bund holds 110% of IBC capacity per AS 1940 / EPA. Stand-alone bunds for fixed-asset spill containment.

  • Which spill kit type?

General-purpose (universal absorbent) for water + oil + fuel. Oil-only (hydrophobic absorbent) for water-surface spills - absorbs oil while repelling water. Chemical/hazmat for acid + base + corrosive chemical. Match the kit to the most likely spill at the site.

  • Spill kit capacity?

Spec the kit capacity to the largest single container on site. 25 L kit covers drum spill; 50-100 L for IBC partial spill; 200 L+ for bulk tank spill. Spill capacity is litres absorbed, not litres of pack.

  • How do I choose the right spill kit for my site?

Three questions. What fluids do you store and use? What is the worst-case single-event spill volume (the largest container that could fail)? Where are the receiving environments (stormwater drain, soil, surface water, building interior)? Match the kit fluid type to the worst-case fluid, the kit absorbent capacity to at least the worst-case volume, and the response distance: keep a kit within 30 m of any potential spill source. For storage above AS 1940 threshold quantities, you also need bunding plus the kit, not the kit alone.

  • Do I need training to use a spill kit?

Yes. Workplace spill response is a notifiable activity under WHS regulations and the operator using the kit needs to know: how to assess the fluid hazard before approaching, what PPE to wear, how to deploy the booms and absorbents in the right order, when to evacuate and call emergency services instead, and how to dispose of the saturated waste. Most spill kit suppliers (including us) offer half-day or full-day training that covers these procedures. The training certificate also satisfies the EPA's competent-operator requirement for spill response.
