FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • Canvas or plastic drop sheet?

Canvas for interior work where the sheet stays in place all shift - non-slip underfoot, absorbs drips, reusable for years. Plastic for exterior overspray containment and for single-use disposal at end of shift - lighter, larger coverage, faster to deploy. Carry both: canvas under the work zone, plastic across the larger overspray containment zone.

  • Is the leak-proof canvas worth the extra cost?

On premium residential, yes - the plastic backing stops paint bleed-through onto carpet, hardwood or tile, which means the customer doesn't pay for floor finish rework. Plain canvas can bleed under wet paint on a finish floor. The leak-proof option pays for itself on the first job where a bleed-through would have caused a rework.

  • When do I need an aluminium spray shield?

On spray application where the painter wants a hard masking line on trim, skirting, window frames, kerbs or any feature edge. The rigid metal shield holds against the wall while the gun sprays past the edge - leaves a clean cut without tape on the unsprayed side. Faster than full tape-and-mask on edges that the painter is moving along during the spray pass.

  • ZipPole: when?

Spray work in occupied homes, retail fit-out, dust-sensitive areas where overspray and dust must stay in the work zone. ZipPole extends floor-to-ceiling poles, clips plastic sheeting between work area and the rest of the building - functional dust wall. Standard kit on contractor trucks doing renovation spray work where overspray containment is the difference between a clean job and a rework.

  • Spray shield: when do I need one?

On any spray work where there are fittings, edges, glass, fixtures or adjacent surfaces that should not receive paint. The spray shield holds back overspray so the cut-in is sharp without requiring full masking with tape and film. Faster than full masking on small areas; full masking remains the right call on large areas where the spray shield would need to be moved repeatedly.

Drop Sheets & Surface Protection

Canvas drop cloths, leak-proof canvas with plastic backing, plastic drop sheets, aluminium spray shields and ZipPole enclosure kits. 21 products covering interior protection, exterior overspray containment and floor/furniture protection on paint, spray and demolition work.

Canvas vs plastic. Canvas drop cloths absorb paint drips, lay flat without slipping under foot, and are reusable for years. The right pick for interior wall and ceiling work where the painter is on carpet, hardwood or tile and the drop sheet stays in one place all shift. Plastic drop sheets are single-use, lighter, easier to deploy and dispose, and cover larger areas faster - the right pick for exterior overspray containment and for jobs where the sheet is going in the bin at end of shift.

Leak-proof canvas with plastic backing. Monarch Leak-Proof Canvas Drop Sheet with Plastic Backing combines the non-slip canvas top surface with a plastic underside that stops paint bleed-through onto carpet, hardwood or tile. The single-best floor protection for premium residential where canvas alone might bleed wet paint into the floor finish. Heavier and more expensive than plain canvas but pays back on the first job where the customer doesn't have to pay for floor finish rework.

Aluminium spray shields. iQUIP Hyde Aluminium Paint Spray Shield is the rigid metal shield used to mask edges during spray application - edges of trim, skirting, window frames, kerbs and any surface the painter wants a hard masking line on. Held in place against the wall while spraying past the edge. The Hyde ProShield Cardboard Clip system covers larger flat-shield masking for door reveals and trim runs.

ZipPole enclosure kit. iQUIP ZipPole Enclosure Kit is the dust and overspray containment system for interior renovation work - poles extend floor-to-ceiling and clip plastic sheeting between work area and the rest of the building. The right kit for spray work in occupied homes, retail fit-out and dust-sensitive work where overspray containment is the difference between a clean job and a rework. Standard kit on contractor trucks doing renovation spray work.

Industrial painter's rags. iQUIP White Cotton Painters Rags cover wipe-up, equipment cleaning and surface prep. Standard cotton rag rather than disposable - reusable, absorbs paint and solvent without breaking down.
