FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • How do I size a pressure washer?

Two numbers: PSI (breaks the dirt bond) and L/min (carries the dirt off). Multiply for cleaning units - higher value = faster area per shift. Domestic 1500-3000 PSI, 6-9 L/min. Light commercial 3000-4000 PSI, 12-15 L/min. Heavy commercial 3000-5000 PSI, 20-31 L/min. Match the unit to the working area per shift, not just headline PSI. A 4000 PSI unit at 8 L/min cleans slower than a 3000 PSI unit at 15 L/min on a large area.

  • Cold or hot water?

Cold water for general surface clean - paint prep, fence wash, exterior brick, concrete patio, vehicle wash. Hot water (diesel-heated burner) for grease, oil, food residue and stubborn carbon - workshop floors, food processing, transport depots, kitchens, marina. The heat breaks oil and animal fat that cold water can't shift. JetWave Explorer + Hybrid series cover AU hot water; Spitwater and Kerrick are the broader commercial hot-water competitors.

  • Electric, petrol or diesel-engine drive?

Electric for indoor + workshop where mains is available and exhaust isn't acceptable. Petrol for outdoor portable - mine, agriculture, construction without mains. Diesel-engine drive on the largest commercial trailer/truck-mounted units where the engine drives both pump and burner. Match power source to site, not just price.

  • What's softwash and when do I use it?

Softwash is low-pressure chemical-led cleaning for algae, moss, lichen, biofilm, exterior render, decorative paint and roof tile. Uses dedicated softwash pumps + proportioning systems to dose chemical (typically sodium hypochlorite) into a water stream. Right for surfaces that would damage under high-pressure - render, decorative paint, terracotta tile, soft timber. Standard pressure washing strips paint and gouges render; softwash cleans without damaging the substrate.

  • Trailer + truck build lead time?

Typically 4 to 16 weeks for full custom JetWave or Graco trailer/truck builds, depending on engine, pump spec, tank size, hose reel count and accessory layout. Standard skid-mount kits ship faster. Confirm current AU lead times with the GO sales team before customer commitment - JetWave Cube and Executive G2 builds are the longest-lead items.

Pressure washer sizing. Two numbers matter: PSI (pressure) and L/min (flow). PSI breaks the dirt bond; L/min carries the dirt off the surface. Multiply the two for cleaning units - higher cleaning units = faster cleaning area per minute. Domestic and DIY: 1500 to 3000 PSI, 6 to 9 L/min. Light commercial: 3000 to 4000 PSI, 12 to 15 L/min. Heavy commercial / industrial: 3000 to 5000 PSI, 20 to 31 L/min. Match the unit to the working area per shift, not just the headline PSI.

Cold vs hot water. Cold-water units cover general surface clean - paint prep, fence wash, exterior brick, concrete patio. Hot-water units (diesel-heated burner) cover grease, oil, food residue, and stubborn carbon - the heat breaks the bond on oil and animal fat that cold water can't shift. Workshop floors, food processing, transport depots, kitchens and marinas all need hot. JetWave Explorer and Hybrid series cover the AU hot-water range; Spitwater and Kerrick run the broader commercial hot-water market.

Electric vs petrol vs diesel. Electric for indoor + workshop work where mains power is available and exhaust fumes aren't acceptable. Petrol for outdoor portable work without mains - mine sites, agriculture, construction. Diesel-engine drive for the largest commercial units and trailer/truck builds where the engine drives both the pump and the burner. Match the power source to the work site - electric won't run remote, petrol won't run indoors, diesel suits high-volume mounted units.

Trailer + truck builds. Trailer and truck-mounted units (JetWave Hornet, Senator, Executive, PMG, Sirocco G2 series) carry water tank, pump, engine, burner if hot, hose reels and accessory storage on a single unit. Right for the contractor running multi-site work daily - graffiti removal, fleet wash, agricultural, mine site, council. Pair with the matching Cube body for fully-built tank-on-trailer or skid-mount kit for ute tray. Lead times typically 4 to 16 weeks for full custom builds.

Softwash and chemical application. Softwash is the low-pressure, chemical-led approach to algae, moss, lichen, biofilm and exterior surface cleaning - roofs, render walls, paint surfaces, fences. Uses dedicated softwash pumps + proportioning systems to dose chemical (typically sodium hypochlorite-based) into the water stream. Right for surfaces that would damage under high-pressure - render, decorative paint, terracotta tile, soft timber.

Surface cleaners. Rotating surface cleaners attach to the gun and clean concrete, paving, driveways, large flat surfaces 5 to 10 times faster than a wand. Twin- or quad-jet head sweeps a 380 to 750 mm wide path with even pressure across the path. Critical for driveway, carpark and warehouse floor work where wand-cleaning would leave stripe marks. Graco G-Force II Flat Surface Cleaner range fits the Graco G-Force II petrol washers; JetWave and aftermarket surface cleaners fit the standard quick-connect range.

Window and solar panel cleaning. Water-fed pole + DI (deionised) water systems clean windows and solar panels at reach without ladder access - the DI water leaves no streaks or residue on dry. Tucker is the AU/US-import standard for water-fed pole systems (Alpha brushes, Solar Boost pole, RO/DI purification units, TDS meters). See Window & Solar Panel Cleaning for the full Tucker range.
