Work through it in order. Check the tip for wear and confirm the size matches what the coating's data sheet calls for, then fit a new guard and tip to rule those out. Next check the pump packings. To test the suction side, prime the unit and spray it upside down. If it still splutters running clean water, the fault is electrical or in the motor control rather than the material.

Usually not. Once paint cures in the suction tube, drain tube, manifold and pump, those parts need replacing rather than cleaning, which is why tubes and repair kits are stocked here as separate items. Flushing with an oil-based pump storage fluid before the machine sits is what prevents it.

Fit the kit if a seal or valve has worn. Kits bundle the seals, o-rings and valve components that wear as a set, and fitting one new item against worn neighbours tends to fail again within a few jobs. Single parts suit physical damage instead, like a split tube or a broken knob.
