FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • 10A, 15A or 32A?

10A for general workshop tool use. 15A for higher-draw tools (large grinders, welders, big saws). 32A 3-phase for industrial site supply. Cable size must match the amp rating - undersized overheats under load. AS/NZS 3199 covers cord set safety.

  • RCD lead required?

Yes on construction site under AS/NZS 3012. Standard RCD trip rating 30 mA. Use RCD leads on any wet, outdoor or construction site work where shock risk is elevated. Many sites mandate RCD even on indoor workshop use.

  • Cable reel: open or enclosed?

Open-frame for trade workshop use - lighter, easier to inspect cable for damage. Enclosed for outdoor + dirty environments - protects the cable from dust, debris, moisture. Heavy-duty reels are spring-loaded for one-handed deploy + retract.

  • How do I properly use a static earthing reel to ensure maximum safety?

Using a static earthing reel correctly is essential for maintaining a safe work environment - and getting it right is easier than you think. First things first, always inspect your grounding reel before each use. Check for any damage to the cable, clamps, or reel mechanism. If anything looks dodgy, don't use it.

Here's your step-by-step process: Start by connecting the earthing clamp to a proper earthing point – this could be a dedicated earthing rod driven into the ground or an approved earthing terminal. Make sure the connection is clean and secure. Next, unwind enough cable from your grounding cable reel to reach your equipment or container that needs earthing.

Critical safety tip: Always connect the earthing clamp to your equipment BEFORE you start any operations that could generate static electricity. This creates a continuous path for static discharge right from the get-go. Keep the cable away from moving parts and ensure it won't get damaged during your work.

After you're finished, disconnect the equipment end first, then the earthing point. Properly wind up your earthing reel for next time, checking that the cable isn't kinked or damaged.

  • How do I choose the right extension leads & cabling for my application?

Selection depends on the specific application requirements: operating environment (indoor/outdoor, temperature range, dust/moisture exposure), duty cycle (intermittent vs continuous), capacity or size specifications, and compatibility with existing equipment. Review the individual product specifications on each product page for detailed technical data. Extension Leads & Cabling

32 industrial extension leads, cable reels and site cabling from iQUIP + AU-grade manufacturers. 10A, 15A and 32A site-power cabling, RCD-protected leads and heavy-duty reels for construction, workshop and event Australia-wide.

Amp rating + cable size. 10A leads for general workshop tool use. 15A for higher-draw tools (large grinders, welders, big saws). 32A 3-phase for industrial site supply. Cable size must match the amp rating - undersized cable overheats under load and is a fire risk. AS/NZS 3199 covers cord set safety.

RCD protection. Residual Current Device (RCD) leads trip the circuit on earth-fault - mandatory on construction site under AS/NZS 3012. Standard RCD trip rating 30 mA. Use RCD leads on any wet, outdoor or construction site work where shock risk is elevated.

Cable reels. Cable reels store and deploy long leads (15-50 m) without tangling. Open-frame reels for trade use; enclosed reels for outdoor + dirty environments. Heavy-duty reels are spring-loaded for one-handed deploy + retract.
