FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • How do I rate jack stands?

Tonnage rating is per pair - 2t pair = 1t per stand. Match the pair rating to vehicle weight + safety margin. Light car 2-3t pair. SUV + light truck 3-6t pair. Medium truck 6-12t pair. Heavy truck 12-20t pair. Use stands in pairs; never single-stand a vehicle.

  • Pin or ratchet style?

Pin-style sets height with a steel locking pin - simple, proven, less mechanism to fail. Ratchet sets height with a ratcheting mechanism - faster adjustment but ratchet pawl can wear or fail under impact. Trade preference is pin-style for primary support stands.

  • Where do I place jack stands?

Under the manufacturer-specified lift point - unit rail or factory jack point. Hard, level surface only. Soft surface (gravel, dirt, soft asphalt) lets the stand sink. Never place on body panel, suspension component or trim - those can punch through under load.

  • Can I work under a vehicle on jack stands?

Yes - that is the entire purpose. Stands are the safety redundancy that lets the worker get under. Use stands rated for the vehicle + 1.5x safety margin, place on hard level surface, use in pairs at factory lift points, leave the jack in place as secondary backup. Don't shortcut: jack-stand-failure under load is a workshop fatality cause.

  • What warranty and after-sales service is available for jack stands?

All jack stands sold through GO Industrial are supplied with the manufacturer's standard warranty, which typically ranges from 12 months to 3 years depending on the product and brand. GO Industrial provides national service support through our Queensland-based technical team and authorised service partners in all Australian states. Warranty claims are managed directly — contact our team with the purchase order number and fault description for assessment. Extended warranty and preventive maintenance programs are available on selected equipment categories.
