  • Which RAC 5 tip do I need for my Graco LineLazer unit?

    Pick by the work. For carpark and council line marking on a LineLazer ES 500, ES 1000, 3400 or V 200HS units, the LL5 yellow-line series is right. The LL5319 covers 75 to 100 mm line widths and the LL5421 covers 100 to 150 mm; that pair handles the majority of carpark and council jobs. For stencil work (bay numbering, give-way bars, accessibility symbols, council priority symbols) move to the 286 black SwitchTip series, typically a 286319 paired with the LL5319 carpark kit. For long-line truck-mount work on a RoadPak or custom paint truck, move to the Silver Flat 163 family. When in doubt, give us the unit serial and the line widths you need to mark and we'll pull the matched tip set.

  • LL5319 versus LL5421: what is the difference?

    Both are LL5 yellow-line family SwitchTips for the LineLazer paint unit. The LL5319 (3-19) has a 3 inch fan width and a 0.019 inch orifice, the standard fit for 75 to 100 mm carpark and council line widths. The LL5421 (4-21) has a wider 4 inch fan and a larger 0.021 inch orifice, the standard fit for 100 to 150 mm long-line and freeway markings. Most contractors carry both: LL5319 for the bay-defining work and LL5421 for the long-line. They both ship in the Graco Stripe More Kit on first delivery.

  • What is a SwitchTip and why does it matter?

    A SwitchTip is a Graco RAC 5 design feature: when the tip clogs, the operator reverses the SwitchTip 180 degrees in the holder, sprays once to clear the clog backwards out of the orifice, then reverses the tip back to spraying position. No unbolting the gun, no tip removal, no airless pressure relief sequence. On older fixed-tip systems, clearing a clog meant pressure-down, tip-out, soak, blow-out, tip-in, pressure-up: typically a 5 to 15 minute interruption per clog. On RAC 5, it is a 10 second motion. That is the single biggest productivity gain on the LineLazer family vs older fixed-tip systems and is why Graco SwitchTips are the production-favourite consumable.

  • Which tip guard do I need?

    Standard RAC 5 guard 243161 is the default for most LineLazer V units. The OneSeal 243281 / 224081 is the updated guard sealing system on the latest LineLazer V units. Check the guard already fitted to the unit before ordering replacements. Contractor Flat Guard 220251 is for flat-tip work (long-line, runway). PTFE gasket 223374 is the standard replacement when the guard seal starts leaking around the SwitchTip. Order one spare guard and a pack of PTFE gaskets on first delivery so the unit is not down on a leaking guard during a council shift.

  • Is the bead nozzle a different tip family?

    Yes. The 0.234 inch RAC 5 bead nozzle is the standard for the pressurised bead delivery system on Reflective LineLazer V units (V 200HS HP Reflective, V 250SPS HP Reflective). It is a separate item from the paint SwitchTip and lives in the bead system rather than the gun. Wet film thickness on the paint side and bead nozzle pressure on the bead side together determine whether the Type B / C / D-HR beads (per APAS 0042 / ATS 4110 5.12) sit at the target 60 percent embedment for retroreflectivity. Choosing the Right RAC 5 SwitchTip

RAC 5 SwitchTips are the daily consumable on the Graco LineLazer family. They drop into the gun, atomise the paint at the right fan width and orifice for the line you want, and reverse in the holder to clear a tip clog without unbolting the gun. Pick the tip family by the work (line marking, stencilling, long-line truck-mount), then pick the variant by line width and wet film thickness target.

LL5 series for line marking. The LL5 yellow-line family is the standard SwitchTip for the LineLazer paint unit on carpark, council and contractor walk-behind work. The LL5319 (3-19, 3 inch fan, 0.019 inch orifice) and the LL5421 (4-21, wider fan, larger orifice) are the standard 'two-tip' pairing for 75 to 150 mm line widths; LL5213, LL5219, LL5317, LL5321, LL5419 and LL5443 fill in the narrower-fan / wider-fan variants for specific jobs. Wet film thickness target on waterborne paint is typically 350-400 microns for ATS 4110 work, which sits the bead at around 60% embedment.

286 series for stencilling. The 286 black SwitchTip family is for stencil work: bay numbering, accessibility symbols, give-way bars, arrows, and council priority symbols. Pair the 286 series with a Brady standard stencil kit or a Signs and Stencils custom order. The 286319 (3-19) is a common pairing with a LL5319 carpark kit; the 286215 (2-15) suits finer detail work.

Silver Flat 163 series for long-line truck-mount. Silver Flat 163 is the long-line and runway tip family used on truck-mount RoadPak and custom paint truck builds. Silver Flat geometry produces the wider, flatter fan needed for high-speed truck-mount work where the unit is moving at council long-line operating speed. Tip guards and guard accessories. Every RAC 5 SwitchTip needs a guard. Standard RAC 5 guard 243161 is the default. The OneSeal 243281 / 224081 replaces the older guard sealing system on newer LineLazer V units. Contractor Flat Guard 220251 is for flat-tip work. PTFE gasket 223374 is the standard replacement when the guard seal starts leaking. Match the guard to the unit class and tip family before commissioning.
