FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • Which spray gun fits my Graco line marking unit?

Pick by unit class. LineLazer ES 500, ES 1000, 3400 and V 200HS Auto: Flex Plus airless gun (248157) for the manual seat. LineLazer V 200HS HP Reflective, V 250SPS HP Reflective, V 200DC, V 250DC and 130HS for ATS 4110 work: AL Series Automatic Airless (288048) or Double-Acting (24G980) for the primary, plus a 2nd Auto Gun Kit (25A673 for V 3900/5900/200HS, 25A676 for 130HS). LineLazer V 200MMA 1:1 cold applied plastic: Fusion ProConnect Gun and ProConnect Cartridge (19Y300 1-pack or 19Y308 5-pack), with the MMA Air-Purge LineLazer Gun (25E471) for shutdown chamber clearing. Give us the unit serial if you want a matched gun + tip + hose set in one order.

  • Manual versus automatic guns: when do I need auto?

Manual is right for carpark, council walk-behind, and contractor work that does not need ATS 4110 Clause 6 capability. The Flex Plus airless gun handles 99% of paint LineLazer work below ATS 4110 longitudinal scope. Auto becomes mandatory for ATS 4110 Clause 6 work because the standard requires automatic pattern control (skip-line) and dual-angle bead delivery. Manual guns can do skip-line by hand but the Clause 6 wording requires automatic mechanism. Practically: any council long-line, double-barrier, freeway, or freeway-grade carriageway work moves you to auto guns on a V 200HS HP Reflective, V 250SPS HP Reflective or RoadPak unit.

  • What is Fusion ProConnect and why does it matter for MMA?

Fusion ProConnect is the Graco at-the-gun plural-component mixing system on the LineLazer V 200MMA cold applied plastic unit. The resin and catalyst stay separated through the unit plumbing and only meet inside the ProConnect mixing chamber at the gun, which means working pot-life is not the constraint (the mix only exists for the milliseconds between mixing and atomisation). This is the design that lets a 1:1 MMA unit run an 8-hour shift without pot-life downtime. The ProConnect Cartridge is the wear part that holds the mix chamber geometry; replace per the Graco service interval. The MMA Air-Purge LineLazer Gun (25E471) clears the mix chamber on shutdown so the unit is ready for next-shift cold start without a chamber rebuild.

  • Does ATS 4110 Clause 6 actually require automatic guns?

Functionally, yes. ATS 4110 Clause 6 requires the unit to be fitted with automatic pattern control (skip-line capability), to mark double one-way or double two-way barrier lines concurrently, and to deliver beads at dual angles producing similar retroreflectivity in both directions (within 15 percent). Manual guns can technically be triggered by hand to produce a skip-line pattern, but the Clause 6 specification is written around an automatic mechanism so the unit can hold a constant tip-on time at variable travel speed. PCCP Class 20 and 21 accreditation work assumes automatic guns. Practically, every unit that wins ATS 4110 longitudinal work runs auto guns: LineLazer V 200HS HP Reflective, V 250SPS HP Reflective, V 200DC, V 250DC, RoadPak.

  • Which repair kit do I need for Flex Plus airless guns?

Stock the Flex Plus needle kit, packing kit and seal kit as the standard rebuild on Flex Plus (248157, 287095) airless guns. They contain the wear parts needed for a full top-end rebuild and reseal. For LineLazer V auto guns, the V Gun Kit Range (25A491) covers the upgrade pathway. For Fusion ProConnect and Fusion PC MMA guns, stock the ProConnect Cartridge (19Y300 1-pack or 19Y308 5-pack), the matched filters, and the A and B side valves alongside the gun rebuild parts. Order the Flex Plus rebuild parts on first delivery so the unit is not down on a leaking seal during a council shift.

Choosing the Right Line Marking Spray Gun

Spray guns are the second most unit-critical decision after the unit itself. Pick by what the unit is doing: paint walk-behind work uses manual airless guns, ATS 4110 longitudinal markings on public roads use automatic airless guns for Clause 6 capability, and cold applied plastic uses Fusion ProConnect for at-the-gun plural-component mixing. The right gun pairs with the right tip and the right hose, and the wrong gun on the wrong unit costs throughput and paint atomisation quality.

Manual airless guns for paint LineLazer. The Graco Flex Plus airless gun (248157, RAC 5 LineLazer fitment) is the production manual gun on the LineLazer paint unit: comfortable trigger, swivel-mounted RAC 5 SwitchTip holder, and the standard fit on every LineLazer ES, 3400 and V manual units. Flex Plus 287095 is the equivalent gun shipped as a complete kit (gun plus 6.4 mm x 15 m hose, 3,300 PSI rated, RAC X 517 HandTite guard, 0.9 m whip hose). Single-Acting 238377 covers earlier paint unit fitments.

Automatic airless guns for ATS 4110 Clause 6 capability. ATS 4110 Clause 6 mandates that longitudinal pavement marking machinery be fitted with automatic pattern control (skip-line) and dual-angle bead delivery, which means automatic guns rather than manual triggers. The Graco AL Series Automatic Airless gun (288048) and the Double-Acting paint spray gun (24G980) are the standard auto guns for council and contractor public-road work. The 2nd Automatic Gun Kit for LineLazer V 3900 / V 5900 / V 200HS (25A673) and the 2nd Gun Kit for LineLazer 130HS (25A676) add a second auto gun to existing units for double-line / barrier-line work. The V Gun Kit Range (25A491) covers the upgrade path from manual to auto on the LineLazer V family.

Fusion ProConnect for cold applied plastic (CAP/MMA). The Fusion ProConnect Gun mixes the resin and catalyst at the gun (not in a pre-mix pot) for the LineLazer V 200MMA cold applied plastic unit. The ProConnect Cartridge in 1-pack (19Y300) and 5-pack (19Y308) is the standard consumable. The MMA Cartridge (25V433), Mix Chamber (25T481), Flat Mix Chamber PC20FL (with 0.020 in / 0.51 mm orifice), and Orifice PC22WD cover the unit-side wear parts. The Fusion AP MMA Retrofit Kit (26D973) and Fusion PC MMA Gun (25U857) cover the gun-side upgrades. The MMA Air-Purge LineLazer Gun (25E471) clears the mixing chamber on shutdown to prevent cure-in-place; running MMA without Air-Purge is the single biggest cause of catastrophic gun failure on plural-component unit.

Repair kits and accessory guns. Flex Plus needle kits, packings and seal kits are the standard wear parts on the LineLazer paint family; carry the Flex Plus needle kit on the truck for any council shift longer than three days. For Fusion ProConnect and Fusion PC MMA gun rebuilds, stock the matched filters and A / B side valves alongside the ProConnect Cartridge. The LineLazer Dual Spray Kit (287626) converts a single-gun unit to dual-gun for double-line work. Match the repair kit and accessory gun to the unit serial before ordering.
