FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • 30 mesh or 50 mesh: which filter do I need?

30 mesh for standard waterborne line marking paint and most council and contractor work. The finer 30 mesh stops smaller debris that would otherwise clog RAC 5 SwitchTip orifices on the gun. 50 mesh for high-flow / high-viscosity material where the coarser mesh reduces back-pressure on longer pump runs. As a working rule, run 30 mesh as the default and step up to 50 mesh only if you are seeing pump back-pressure issues with thick waterborne paint or specialist coatings.

  • Easy Out or standard removal: what is the difference?

Easy Out filters carry a hand-removable body so the operator can pull the filter at end of shift for cleaning or replacement without tools. The Easy Out feature matters because end-of-shift filter cleaning is part of the standard flush workflow on daily-use units; pulling a filter with a wrench costs time and risks cross-thread damage to the manifold. Standard filters require a wrench and are typically used where the filter is permanently installed and only serviced at scheduled intervals. For council and contractor work, Easy Out is the preferred fitment.

  • How often should I clean or replace the filter?

Inspect at every shift change on production work. Clean during end-of-shift flush by pulling the filter element, rinsing in clean water (waterborne paint) or appropriate solvent (solvent paint), and re-installing. Replace when the mesh shows visible wear, when the seal between filter and manifold starts leaking, or when pump back-pressure reading is noticeably elevated even after cleaning. As a working rule, replace at every major service interval whether or not the filter looks worn.

  • Do filters fit all LineLazer models?

No. The Long body filters (24V455, 244071) match V 200HS, V 250SPS and similar production unit. The Short body filters (246425 Easy Out, 236495 standard) match smaller unit or tighter manifold spaces. Confirm filter length and thread spec against the unit serial before ordering, give us the unit serial and we will pull the matched filter set.

  • When do I need the filter base repair kit?

When the threads or sealing surfaces on the filter base assembly have worn from repeated filter changes. Symptoms include difficulty threading the filter on or off, persistent weeping at the filter-manifold seal even after the filter is correctly tightened, and visible wear on the threads. The Graco Filter Base Repair Kit (245796) replaces the worn base assembly. Carry one spare per service interval on units that see frequent filter swaps.

Choosing the Right Manifold Filter

The pump manifold filter sits between the pump and the gun and stops debris from reaching the tip. Pick by mesh size (50 mesh for high-flow viscous material, 30 mesh for standard waterborne paint), by length (long for V 200HS / V 250SPS class units, short for tighter unit spaces), and by removal style (Easy Out for end-of-shift flush, standard for permanent install).

50 mesh Hi-Flow filter for viscous material. The Graco 50 Mesh Long Hi-Flow Easy Out Pump Manifold Filter (24V455) is the coarser-mesh option for high-flow / high-viscosity material. The wider mesh openings reduce back-pressure on longer pump runs and suit thicker waterborne paint formulations. Easy Out body allows the filter to be removed by hand for end-of-shift flush without tools.

30 mesh filter for standard waterborne work. The Graco 30 Mesh Long Easy Out Pump Manifold Filter (244071) is the standard fitment for most waterborne line marking paint. Finer 30 mesh stops smaller debris that would otherwise clog RAC 5 SwitchTip orifices on the gun. The Long body matches V 200HS, V 250SPS and similar unit sizes. The 30 Mesh Short Easy Out (246425) and 30 Mesh Short non-Easy-Out (236495) cover tighter unit spaces.

Easy Out vs standard removal. Easy Out filters (24V455, 244071, 246425) carry a hand-removable body so the operator can pull the filter at end of shift for cleaning or replacement without tools. Standard filters (236495) require a wrench and are typically used where the filter is permanently installed and only serviced at scheduled intervals. Easy Out is preferred for daily-use council and contractor work where end-of-shift flush is part of the routine.

Filter base repair. The Graco Filter Base Repair Kit (245796) replaces the filter base assembly when the threads or sealing surfaces have worn from repeated filter changes. Standard wear part on units that see frequent filter swaps; carry one spare per service interval.
