FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • Why drum kit?

Cheaper per litre than smaller containers + faster service. Standard kit on multi-vehicle service workshop.

  • 20 L or 200 L drum?

20 L for small workshop + light vehicle service. 200 L for production workshop + heavy vehicle service. Match drum size to weekly throughput.

  • Pump ratio?

Match to fluid viscosity at site temperature. Light oil = 1:1 to 5:1. Heavy grease = 50:1 to 75:1. Wrong ratio = grease won't flow.

  • Are grease and oil drum kits compatible with different drum sizes?

Yes, they are. That's one of the best things about them. Most grease and oil drum kits are designed with versatility in mind, so you can find a solution for the common drum sizes used in workshops, like the standard 20kg (or 20L) pails and the larger 205L drums. Many kits come with adjustable-length suction tubes or different tube options to ensure they can reach the bottom of various drum heights. This means you can switch between different lubricant containers without needing a whole new pump setup. When choosing your kit, the most important thing is to check the product specifications to confirm it matches the drum sizes you use most often. Getting a compatible kit makes managing your grease and oil inventory so much easier.

  • What flow rate and pressure rating do I need for grease & oil drum kits?

Flow rate (L/min) determines transfer speed; pressure (bar or PSI) determines the ability to push fluid through pipework, filters and elevation changes. For workshop oil dispensing, 5-15 L/min at 3-5 bar is typical. For bulk fuel transfer, 40-120 L/min at 2-4 bar is standard. For grease distribution, 0.5-2 L/min at 200-400 bar is required due to grease viscosity. Always size the pump for the worst-case scenario: longest hose run, coldest operating temperature and highest-viscosity fluid the system will handle.

Grease & Oil Drum Kits

Drum kit rationale. Drum kits dispense bulk oil + grease from 20-200 L drums via gravity or pump. Cheaper per litre than smaller containers + faster service when topping up multiple vehicles. Standard kit on multi-vehicle service workshop.

Kit components. Pump + suction tube + dispense hose + control valve + drum cap or lid. Match the pump ratio to the fluid viscosity at site temperature (see piston-pumps for ratio rules).
