FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • Grind or scarify?

Grinding (diamond / carbide wheel) for fine surface prep + coating removal + smoothing - smoother profile for thin-film coatings. Scarifying (tungsten cutter drum) for aggressive material removal + deep coating removal - coarser CSP 3-5 profile for thicker coatings.

  • Silica compliance mandatory?

Yes - concrete grinding + scarifying generates respirable crystalline silica. Safe Work AU 0.05 mg/m3 exposure standard. Mandatory dust collection (LazerVac + Cyclone) or wet method.

  • CSP profile?

Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) 1-9 scale per ICRI 310.2. CSP 1-2 from light grinding for paint. CSP 3-5 from scarifying for self-leveller + epoxy floor. CSP 6-9 from shot-blast for heavy industrial coating. Match the profile to the coating spec.

  • Does GO Industrial provide scarifier servicing and support?

Yes. As an authorised Graco dealer, GO Industrial provides full support for the GrindLazer range including equipment selection, commissioning, operator training, genuine parts supply, and warranty servicing. We stock scarifier cutters, drum assemblies, and wear components for fast turnaround on maintenance requirements. Our technical team can also advise on cutter selection, depth settings, and operational techniques for different surface types and marking materials.

  • How do I choose the right grinding & scarifying for my application?

Selection depends on the specific application requirements: operating environment (indoor/outdoor, temperature range, dust/moisture exposure), duty cycle (intermittent vs continuous), capacity or size specifications, and compatibility with existing equipment. Review the individual product specifications on each product page for detailed technical data. For assistance selecting the right equipment, contact GO Industrial's technical team — we provide specification support and can recommend the correct product for your application.

Grinding & Scarifying Equipment

25 concrete grinding and scarifying machines for surface preparation - removing coatings, profiling concrete for new coat application, levelling rough surfaces. Graco GrindLazer + scarifier units paired with dust extraction for silica compliance.

Grinding vs scarifying. Grinding (rotating diamond or carbide wheel) for fine surface preparation, coating removal, smoothing rough concrete - leaves a smoother profile suitable for thin-film coatings. Scarifying (rotating cutter drum with tungsten cutters) for aggressive material removal, deep coating removal, traction profile - leaves a coarser CSP 3-5 profile suitable for thicker coatings.

Silica compliance. Concrete grinding + scarifying generates respirable crystalline silica - exposure to which causes silicosis. Mandatory dust collection or wet-method capture under Safe Work AU 0.05 mg/m3 exposure standard. Pair with the LazerVac + Cyclone separator combination from the scarifier-vacuums-dust-collection collection.
