Fuel and Lubricants Hygiene.

The fine manufacturing tolerances and ever increasing drive to reduce emissions has resulted in the need for extremely clean fuel and lubricants to be used in today's machinery.  GO Industrial stocks and supports a huge range of innovative equipment solutions, all designed to help you keep your fuel and lubricants clean.

FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • Why fuel hygiene?

Water in stored diesel breeds microbial growth (diesel bug) that clogs filters and damages injectors. Long-stored fuel degrades within 6-12 months. Fuel hygiene products test for contamination + remove water + extend storage life.

  • How does Kolor Kut work?

Kolor Kut paste changes colour on contact with water. Apply to a dipstick, dip into the tank, pull up - colour change tells you water is at the bottom. Standard fleet + mining tank-check procedure.

  • How often check?

Monthly on fleet diesel tanks; quarterly on stored AdBlue + lubricant tanks. More often in humid coastal locations where condensation drives water accumulation faster.

  • What preventive measures should I take?

Key preventive measures include regular tank inspections, water drainage from tank sumps, use of fuel stabilisers for long-term storage, filtration system maintenance, and keeping tanks as full as practical to reduce condensation. A structured fuel hygiene programme significantly extends fuel life and protects downstream equipment.

  • What connection types and thread standards are used with fuel and lubricants hygiene?

Australian fluid handling equipment predominantly uses BSP (British Standard Pipe) threads in sizes from 1/4" to 3" BSP. Some imported equipment uses NPT (National Pipe Thread) — adapters are available but check thread type before connecting. Cam-lock fittings (Type A through F) are standard for quick-connect hose couplings on tanks and bowsers. Flanged connections (ANSI 150#, AS 4087 Table D/E) are used on larger installations. Always verify thread type, size and pressure rating before assembly to prevent cross-threading or leaks.

Fuel & Lubricants Hygiene

12 fuel + lubricant hygiene products - water captors, fuel testers, contamination indicators, Kolor Kut water-finding paste and fuel sample bottles. Detection + prevention of water + microbial + particulate contamination in stored fuel.

Why fuel hygiene. Water in stored diesel breeds microbial growth (diesel bug) that clogs filters and damages injectors. Long-stored fuel without hygiene degrades within 6-12 months. Fuel hygiene products test for contamination + remove water + extend fuel storage life.

Kolor Kut water-finding paste. Kolor Kut paste changes colour on contact with water - apply to dipstick + dip into the tank to check for water at the bottom. Standard fleet + mining tank-check procedure. Replace contaminated water captor or drain the tank if water is detected.
