LuminoKrom is a photoluminescent line marking paint that charges off daylight and gives back 10 hours of night-time visibility without drawing a watt of power. It is used to mark cycle paths, greenways, footpaths, pedestrian crossings, car parks and hazard zones where running lighting is impractical, expensive or unwanted, including dark-sky areas and sites with no power at all.

This is the water-based almond green version for outdoor and indoor use. It goes onto asphalt, concrete, cement and plasterboard over a white undercoat, laid on by brush or roller at 900 g/m2. A 20 kg pail covers roughly 22 m2 at that dosage. Slip resistance is SRT greater than 0.50 to NF EN 1436, and adding aggregate before the final coat takes it to 0.70. Expect 5 to 10 years of service before reapplication.

How long does LuminoKrom Almond Green glow for after dark?
Almond Green holds Class G luminescence certified to CE ISO 17398, which means more than 3,000 mcd/m2 two minutes after the light source is removed and more than 80 mcd/m2 an hour later. That works out to around 10 hours of usable night-time visibility from a full charge, and the marking recharges itself the next day off daylight.
How is it applied?
Brush and roller are the published methods. Use a brush suited to water-based paints or a 6 to 8 mm nap roller, and build 2 to 3 coats by brush or 3 to 4 by roller to reach the 900 g/m2 dosage. Spray application is possible and we can help you set it up, so talk to us on 07 3204 2240 before you commit a machine to it.
How much area does a pail cover?
At the specified 900 g/m2 dosage a 20 kg pail covers about 22 m2, a 10 kg pail about 11 m2 and a 5 kg pail about 5.5 m2. You also need a white undercoat at 400 to 600 g/m2 underneath, so allow for that separately when you are pricing a job.
Does it need an undercoat?
Yes. Apply a white undercoat at 400 to 600 g/m2 and let it dry for the time the undercoat supplier specifies before the LuminoKrom goes on. The white base reflects the stored light back out of the marking and is what delivers the rated luminescence.
What surfaces can it go on and what conditions do I need?
Asphalt, concrete (bituminous or cement), cement and plasterboard, all clean and dry. New concrete or hydrocarbon surfaces need to be at least four weeks old before you paint. Substrate temperature 10 to 40 C, ambient 15 to 35 C, humidity under 85%.
How long before traffic can go back over it?
Touch dry is 30 minutes and you need a minimum of 2 hours between coats. Leave it 24 hours before reopening to traffic. Hard dry is 48 hours and full cure is 7 days.
How long does the marking last?
Expect 5 to 10 years of service before reapplication is recommended. It resists abrasion, repeated foot traffic and freeze-thaw cycling. Slip resistance is SRT greater than 0.50 to NF EN 1436, and aggregate broadcast before the last coat lifts that to 0.70.
Is this a replacement for street lighting?
No. It is a passive light guide, not a lighting product. It warns users of hazards and guides them along unlit routes without drawing power or needing any cabling, which suits greenways, cycle paths, dark-sky areas, remote paths and sites where power is impractical.
