Product details

A road-registered, self bunded fuel trailer for mobile refuelling across construction, hire fleet and remote field operations. The 1,250L SBHD1250 separates the tank module from the chassis so the fuel module is isolated from towing stresses, and rear tow-and-leave connections let you drop the trailer on site and dispense without the tow vehicle.

A fully baffled inner tank keeps fuel stable under braking, acceleration and cornering, while the drawbar-mounted pump bay stays bunded and weatherproof behind two lockable reverse-opening doors. The lightweight aluminium dual-axle chassis runs mechanical override brakes with no in-cab controller required, and the unit is approved to AS1692, AS1940 and the Australian Dangerous Goods Code for towing behind any suitably rated vehicle without oversize permits.

Diesel, petrol, kerosene and aviation fuels are supported, with a 304 stainless steel primary tank option available for AVGAS and JET A1. The preferred design used by major Australian hire companies including Kennards Hire, Coates Hire and Onsite Group, with more than 150 units supplied into the market. This is a bare trailer with the pump bay housing fitted as standard; the dispensing kit, hose reel and nozzle are not included so you can match the configuration to your flow rate and power source.

Features
  • Independent Module: The self bunded tank module sits independently on the aluminium chassis.

  • Isolated Tank: Towing vibration and road stress are isolated from the tank body.

  • Removable Module: The primary tank module is removable for cleaning or replacement.

  • Internal Baffles: Internal baffles prevent fuel surge during transport.

  • Stable Handling: Stays stable under braking, acceleration and cornering.

  • Safe Towing: Critical for safe towing on public roads and rough site access tracks.

  • Bunded Bay: A fully bunded, weatherproof pump bay is mounted on the drawbar.

  • Lockable Doors: Two lockable reverse-opening doors protect the pump, meter and filtration.

  • DN40 Suction: DN40 suction with a pre-installed foot valve.

  • Rear Connections: 2 x suction and 2 x return points at the rear.

  • Tow And Leave: Drop the trailer on site and connect a hose reel without opening the pump bay.

  • Onsite Station: Becomes a stationary fuel station the site team can operate independently.

  • Dual Axle: Dual-axle aluminium with roller / rocker suspension.

  • Lightweight Build: Tare weight 950 kg, gross under 2 tonnes.

  • Override Brakes: Mechanical override brakes with no in-cab controller required.

  • ADG Approved: Approved to AS1692, AS1940 and the Australian Dangerous Goods Code.

  • Easy Towing: Tow behind any suitably rated vehicle with the appropriate licence.

FAQs

Common questions.

Do I need a special licence to tow the 1250L?
Combined weight under 2,000 kg can typically be towed on a standard car licence in most states. Licence requirements vary by state and depend on the tow vehicle's GVM. Check with your state road authority to confirm.
What braking system does the 1250L use?
Mechanical override brakes, no in-cab controller required. When the tow vehicle brakes, a mechanical system applies the trailer brakes proportionally. Ideal for smaller tow vehicles and simplifies setup.
Can I store petrol or kerosene in the 1250L?
Yes. The 1250L is rated for diesel, petrol, kerosene and aviation fuels (one fluid type per deployment). A 304 stainless steel tank option is available for AVGAS and JET A1 applications. Use the correct ADG placarding and Hazchem labels for the fluid being transported.
What pump and dispensing options are available?
The drawbar pump bay accepts 12V DC, 24V DC and hand pump configurations. Popular options include a 12V 50 LPM kit, 24V 85 LPM kit, hand pump and petrol-driven engine pump (up to 115 LPM). Solar panel kits for 12V battery charging are also available.
What does 'tow and leave' mean?
Two suction points and two return points at the rear let you connect a hose reel or dispensing equipment without opening the pump bay. Once parked and unhitched on site, the trailer becomes a stationary fuel station that site workers can operate independently, no need to keep the tow vehicle on site.
How do I fill the trailer?
Through the bunded fill point on top of the tank. A tanker driver can fill via a standard hose connection, or you can fill from another tank using a transfer pump. The bunded surround captures any spills during filling, meeting AS1940 environmental requirements.
Is the 1250L suitable for hire fleet deployment?
Yes. The separate tank-and-chassis design, lightweight construction, mechanical braking and ADG approval make it well-suited to hire fleets. The durable aluminium chassis and fully baffled tank handle repeated use across different sites and operators. Multi-unit pricing available for hire fleet builds.
What safety equipment do I need to carry?
Minimum 4.5 kg dry chemical fire extinguisher must travel with the trailer. Display correct Hazchem and dangerous goods placards during road transport per ADG Code requirements. Always connect the trailer to an earthing point before dispensing flammable liquids; earthing cable and clamp available as an accessory.
