Above Ground Storage Tank Equipment.

GO Industrial stocks and services a wide range of equipment for use with above ground tanks for the storage of Adblue, Aviation Fuels, Diesel, Lubricants, Petrol and Waste Oil.  We work closely with major global manufacturers including Morrison Brothers, OPW and Piusi to bring you the best of brands.

Overfill prevention valves are designed to prevent overfilling above ground storage tanks by providing a positive shut off during a pressurised fill. GO Industrial stocks a range of overfill prevention valves to suit the different size tanks on today’s market, from generator low profile tanks to large above ground self bunded tanks.

Emergency vents provide high capacity pressure relief if the tank is exposed to fire. When the internal tank pressure reaches the opening pressure of the vent, the weighted cover moves up on the centre pin allowing air to escape. When the internal tank pressure falls, the cover automatically lowers back onto the body and is automatically reset. These vents come in a variety of sizes and tank connections.

Other common equipment used on aboveground storage tanks include anti-syphon valves, pressure vacuum vents, gauges and alarms, spring loaded ball valves, fire valves and pressure relief valves.

FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • Tank gauging - float or electronic?

Float gauges for simple visual level - low cost, no power. Electronic gauges (Fozmula GLL, Piusi OCIO) for continuous monitoring with remote alert + automated reorder - higher cost but pays back on multi-tank sites where running out causes downtime.

  • Pre-engineered dispensing kit?

Donaldson + Piusi dispensing kits bundle pump + filter + meter + nozzle pre-engineered for AS 1940 compliance. Cheaper + faster than building from individual components. Right pick for new tank installs where the operator wants compliance + simplicity.

  • Vent + fill cap requirements?

AS 1940 specifies pressure-vacuum vent caps to prevent tank vacuum collapse during draw-down and pressure rupture during fill. Fill caps must be lockable for diesel + AdBlue to prevent contamination + theft. Always spec compliant vent + fill caps - the cheap option fails compliance audit.

  • How do pressure/vacuum vents work?

Pressure/vacuum vents regulate the internal pressure of a storage tank during filling, emptying, and temperature changes. They allow air in when liquid is withdrawn (preventing vacuum collapse) and release pressure when liquid is added or vapour expands due to temperature rise. Correct vent sizing is critical for tank integrity and safety.

  • What connection types and thread standards are used with above ground storage tank equipment?

Australian fluid handling equipment predominantly uses BSP (British Standard Pipe) threads in sizes from 1/4" to 3" BSP. Some imported equipment uses NPT (National Pipe Thread) — adapters are available but check thread type before connecting. Cam-lock fittings (Type A through F) are standard for quick-connect hose couplings on tanks and bowsers. Flanged connections (ANSI 150#, AS 4087 Table D/E) are used on larger installations. Always verify thread type, size and pressure rating before assembly to prevent cross-threading or leaks.
