FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • How do I match pump to unit?

Each Graco airless unit has a specific pump assembly tied to unit serial. Check the unit model + serial before ordering. Using the wrong pump damages the unit or fails to seat. The product page for each pump lists unit compatibility.

  • Pump Armour - why?

End-of-shift Pump Armour flush is the single biggest determinant of pump service life. Skipping it lets paint dry in suction tube, drain tube, manifold and main pump - requires full replacement of all parts, not just cleaning. Cost of skipping: full pump replacement. Cost of flush: 5 minutes per shift.

  • Endurance Chromex vs standard?

Endurance Chromex is the Graco premium pump line with chrome-plated rod for extended packing life. Standard pumps use a non-chromed rod. Chromex pumps last 2-3x longer on the same paint - the right pick for daily contractor use. Standard pumps are fine for occasional / DIY unit.

  • Repair kit or new pump?

Repair kit replaces packings, valves and seals - the wear components - for ~1/3 the cost of a full pump assembly. Right pick when the pump rod and housing are still in spec. New pump when rod is scored, housing is cracked or unit-side wear has spread.

  • What safety precautions should I follow when using airless sprayer pumps?

When operating airless sprayer pumps, wear an approved respirator (AS/NZS 1716), safety glasses, hearing protection and chemical-resistant gloves. Ensure adequate ventilation — airless sprayers atomise coatings at high pressure, creating overspray mist. Keep skin away from the spray tip: fluid injection injuries from high-pressure spray are a medical emergency requiring immediate hospital treatment. Always engage the trigger lock and relieve pressure before changing tips, cleaning filters or servicing the pump. Follow the manufacturer's safety manual and relevant Safe Work Australia guidelines for spray painting operations.

Unit-matched pump replacement. Each Graco airless unit has a specific pump assembly tied to that unit serial. Replacement pumps + repair kits must match the unit - using the wrong pump damages the unit or fails to seat properly. Always check the unit model + serial before ordering.

Pump Armour rule. End-of-shift Pump Armour fluid flush is the single biggest determinant of pump service life. Skipping the flush lets paint dry in the suction tube, drain tube, manifold and main pump - requires full replacement of all affected parts, not just cleaning. See Sprayer Cleaning & Maintenance for the flush fluid range.
