FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • Ultra 390 versus 395 versus 450?

Ultra 390 (25F517) is the entry of the Ultra non-PC range for residential and light-commercial daily-contractor use. Ultra 395 (25F522) adds higher pump duty cycle and larger tip support for sustained sessions. Ultra 450 (25F523) is the largest non-PC unit with the highest sustained flow rate for high-volume daily contractor use. Match by daily run length: 390 for shorter sessions, 395 for sustained, 450 for high-volume.

  • Ultra or Ultra PC?

Ultra non-PC is the operator-maintained, on-truck-serviceable family with standard piston-pump architecture. Ultra PC adds the ProConnect quick-change pump (in-field cartridge swap) and FastFlush single-handle end-of-shift cleaning. The Ultra Max II ProContractor (495 PC Pro, 595 PC, 695 PC, 795 PC, 1095 PC) and Mark V XT use the Vortex pump with packings around 6 times longer than the standard piston-pump system. As a working rule, Ultra PC for full-time daily contractor use; Ultra non-PC for daily use where pump life is extended by careful end-of-shift Pump Armour.

  • Hi-Cart variant: when do I need it?

The Ultra 390 Hi-Cart raises the unit on a taller cart frame for easier transport on rough job sites and for working at standing height. Same unit footprint as standard Ultra 390 but reduces operator stoop on long sessions. Choose Hi-Cart for sites with stairs, gravel surfaces or where the operator works extended sessions at standing height.

  • Do Ultra sprayers take RAC X SwitchTips?

Yes. The full Graco RAC X SwitchTip ecosystem fits the Ultra non-PC range, same tip set as Magnum, Ultra PC, FinishPro GX and the wider Graco airless paint sprayer family. RAC X LTX for general paint, RAC X FFLP for low-pressure cabinet and trim work. One tip set covers the whole airless fleet. FFLP tips use a SMALLER seal than standard blue RAC X - swap the OneSeal when switching tip families.

  • How do I extend pump life on an Ultra?

End-of-shift Pump Armour flushing is the single biggest determinant of pump rebuild interval. Drain the remaining paint, run a clean-water flush on waterborne (or appropriate solvent on solvent paint), fill the pump with Pump Armour for storage. Replace inlet and outlet valve repair kits when pump bypass appears (paint pressure dropping during continuous spray). Major service per the Graco Ultra operator manual. With proper service Ultra sprayers run for years of daily contractor use.

Graco Ultra Airless Sprayers (non-PC)

The Graco Ultra non-PC airless paint sprayer range covers the daily-contractor entry to professional Graco airless. Ultra 390 (25F517), Ultra 395 (25F522) and Ultra 450 (25F523) sit between the Magnum DIY range and the Ultra PC ProConnect production tier. Operator-maintained, on-truck-serviceable, residential through light-commercial daily use.

Ultra 390, Ultra 395, Ultra 450. Ultra 390 (25F517) is the entry of the Ultra range, sized for residential and light-commercial daily-contractor use. The Ultra 390 Hi-Cart variant raises the unit on a taller cart frame for easier transport on rough sites and standing-height working. Ultra 395 (25F522) adds higher pump duty cycle and larger tip support for sustained sessions. Ultra 450 (25F523) is the largest Ultra non-PC unit with the highest sustained flow rate, sized for high-volume daily contractor use. All three take RAC X SwitchTips and the standard Endurance pump repair-kit ecosystem.

Ultra non-PC versus Ultra PC. Ultra non-PC is operator-maintained, on-truck-serviceable - lower capex, the standard piston-pump architecture, no in-field cartridge swap. Ultra PC adds the ProConnect quick-change pump (cartridge swap in seconds, in-field service) and FastFlush single-handle end-of-shift cleaning. If you need rapid pump turnover or are running shifts where downtime for pump service is expensive, step up to Ultra PC; otherwise the Ultra non-PC range is the right tier.

Daily-use rule. If the unit is going to be used more than 2 days per week of paid contracting work, the Ultra range is the right entry tier. For occasional or weekend use only, the Magnum range is sized correctly and at lower capex. For sustained 5+ day-per-week production work with rapid in-field service, step up to Ultra PC.
