FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • Why DI water?

Tap water leaves visible mineral residue (calcium, magnesium, silica) on glass and solar panels after evaporation. DI water has been stripped of dissolved solids via reverse osmosis + DI resin - rinses the surface and evaporates leaving zero residue. Critical for solar panel cleaning where dirt + residue reduce power output. TDS meter measures water purity (Total Dissolved Solids); rinse water should read close to 0 ppm TDS.

  • Alpha Scrubber or Alpha Glide?

Alpha Scrubber is the standard water-fed pole brush head for general window and facade cleaning. Alpha Glide is the smoother-finish variant for delicate surfaces - high-end building facade, painted surfaces, polished anodised frame. Both use nylon-PBT bristle that scrubs without scratching glass, anodised aluminium or solar panel coatings.

  • How high can a Tucker pole reach?

Standard Tucker poles reach 18-27 ft (5.5-8.2 m) depending on model. The Solar Boost 27 reaches 27 ft (8.2 m). Longer reach poles (35 ft+) exist for tall building facade work. Match the pole reach to the maximum reach height on the job - too long is heavy and harder to control; too short means the operator can't reach the top.

  • RO/DI Purification: how often do I replace the resin?

Replace the DI resin when output TDS climbs above the target threshold - typically 10-20 ppm for window work, near 0 ppm for solar. The TDS meter measures output water purity directly. Carbon filter elements last longer than DI resin but should be replaced every 6-12 months under daily use to maintain water quality. Filter element life depends on input water quality - hard water consumes resin faster.

  • How do I maintain window & solar panel cleaning for long service life?

After each use, flush clean water through the system and wipe down external surfaces. Inspect hoses, fittings and o-rings for wear or cracking before each use. Change pump oil per the OEM schedule (typically every 50-100 hours for petrol units). Store indoors or under cover to prevent UV degradation of hoses and seals. For seasonal storage, run a pump-saver solution through the system to prevent mineral buildup and corrosion. Replace worn nozzles before they affect spray pattern — a worn nozzle increases water consumption and reduces cleaning efficiency.

Window & Solar Panel Cleaning

Tucker water-fed pole + DI water cleaning systems for windows, solar panels, building facade and any high-reach surface where ladder access is risky or impractical. 27 products covering Alpha brushes, water-fed poles (Solar Boost, Reach-Higher), RO/DI purification units, TDS meters, filter elements (carbon, DI resin) and Hose & Brush Heads.

Water-fed pole workflow. Pure water (DI/deionised) flows up through the carbon-fibre or aluminium pole to a brush at the top. The operator scrubs the surface; DI water rinses the surface. Because DI water has near-zero dissolved solids, it leaves NO streaks, residue or mineral deposit on dry. No detergent, no squeegee, no ladder. Reach up to 27 m+ depending on pole spec.

Why DI water. Tap water leaves visible mineral residue (calcium, magnesium, silica) on glass and solar panels after evaporation. DI water has been stripped of dissolved solids via reverse osmosis + DI resin - rinses the surface and evaporates leaving zero residue. Critical for solar panel cleaning where dirt + residue reduce power output. TDS meter measures water purity (Total Dissolved Solids) - rinse water should read close to 0 ppm TDS.

Alpha brush range. Tucker Alpha Scrubber is the standard water-fed pole brush head. Alpha Glide is the smoother-finish variant for delicate surfaces (high-end building facade, painted surfaces). Brush bristles are nylon-PBT blend that scrubs without scratching glass, anodised aluminium frame or solar panel coatings.

Solar Boost pole. Tucker Solar Boost 27 is the carbon-fibre water-fed pole rated for solar panel reach work - 27 ft (8.2 m) reach kit, lightweight composite shaft, comes with the Alpha Solar brush head matched to solar panel cleaning. Pair with the RO/DI purification unit and TDS meter for full system compliance.

RO/DI purification + TDS meter + filter elements. The RO/DI Purification Unit produces the DI water at site - feed it tap water, get DI water out. The DI resin filter strips remaining dissolved solids; the carbon filter strips chlorine and organics before the resin. TDS meter measures output water purity; replace the DI resin when TDS climbs above the target threshold (typically 10-20 ppm for window work; near 0 ppm for solar). Carbon and DI resin filter elements are consumables.
