Is this the Last Abrasive You'll Ever Need for Wood Sanding? The New Mirka Ultimax Ligno Abrasives

Mirka’s brand new innovative abrasive has just been announced, and the GO team are 110% here for it. Here’s our first impressions and thoughts, where to take the time to understand the new features, who the Ultimax Ligno abrasives are going to be ideal for, and testing them against Mirka’s current line-up of abrasives.

As these are a brand new abrasive from Mirka HQ in Finland, they have not yet been formally launched or received in Australia. We’re going to be creating a tonne of content once stock arrives, get them into the hands of our GO partners and sanding community, and really understand if these are the last abrasive you’ll ever need for wood sanding.

Ultimax® Ligno is tailored for wood sanding applications. Fast and even cut thanks to special hourglass abrasive pattern, long service life with good resistance to clogging. Specially developed latex impregnated paper for flexibility and edge wear resistance, features Mirka Multifit hole pattern. Its dust channels leading to extraction holes take control of dust, keeping the abrasive grains cutting, and as air circulates under the abrasive it reduces heat during sanding – an important benefit when sanding substrates, avoiding turning wood dust into a clogging putty.

It’s used for finishing.& sanding and is suitable to sand the following substrates: Chipboard, Soft / Resinous wood, Mahogany, Solid surface, Ash, Dupont Corian, Teak, Veneer, Samsung Staron, Pine, Melamine, Oak, Hard wood, Birch, Beech
