Product details

The Fill-Rite 800 Series is a three wheel mechanical meter for fuel transfer. A nutating disc chamber counts the fluid as it passes, so there is no power supply, no battery and nothing electronic to fail. The three digit counter reads the batch up to 99.9 litres and zeroes from the knob on the side, and a separate non-resettable totaliser holds throughput for the life of the meter.

Four builds cover most inline work. The 807CL takes 3/4 inch BSP ports and the 807CL1 takes 1 inch. The 806CL is the gravity feed model and carries an inlet strainer on top, for tanks that feed by head rather than by pump. The 807CNL1 is nickel plated, which is the build to use on higher biofuel blends. All four are litre register, rated to 50 psi and accurate to plus or minus 1 percent.

The body is cast aluminium and the ports rotate to any of four positions, so one meter suits horizontal or vertical pipework. Calibration is a screwdriver job against a container of known volume. The faceplate is marked not to be used to measure liquid for resale, so these record your own usage rather than serving as trade measurement.

Features
  • Nutating Disc Chamber: Passes rust and small debris that jam other meter types, so a little tank sediment does not stop the count.

  • Litre Register: Three digit counter reads the batch to 99.9 litres, with a separate non-resettable totaliser holding lifetime volume.

  • Cast Aluminium Body: Rated to 50 psi (3.5 bar) working pressure across an operating range of -26 to 66 °C.

  • Four Port Positions: The housing and chamber rotate together, so one meter suits horizontal or vertical pipework.

  • Field Calibration: A screwdriver and a container of known volume is all it takes. One full turn of the screw shifts the reading by about 0.4 litres.

  • Gravity Feed Option: The 806CL carries an inlet strainer on top for tanks that feed by head rather than by pump.

  • Nickel Plated Option: The 807CNL1 handles biodiesel to B100, petrol to E85 and non-potable water.

  • Marked And Rated: cULus Listed, CE and Ex II 2G c T6, made in the USA, backed by a two year warranty.
Included accessories

Supplied as a meter only, in the build you select. The 806CL includes its inlet strainer housing.

Installation
  • Flow Direction: Meters are supplied for horizontal pipework with left to right flow. An arrow cast into the housing shows the direction.

  • Changing Direction: Lay the meter face down, remove the four housing screws, then lift the housing and chamber together and rotate them. The chamber opening must face the inlet port. Replace the four screws.

  • Service Access: Allow roughly 150 mm to each side and 200 mm above the meter so the cover and counter can come off in place.

  • Sealing: Use an oil and petrol resistant thread compound on every threaded joint.

  • Pressure: Do not exceed 50 psi (3.5 bar) line pressure. Do not fit an additional foot valve or check valve without a pressure relief valve, or the body can crack.

  • Calibration: Calibrate before first use and again whenever you change fluid. Fill a container of known volume, then remove the seal screw and turn the calibration screw. Anticlockwise reduces the reading, clockwise increases it, and one full turn is about 0.4 litres. Refit the seal screw when you are done.

  • Air: The meter and the pipework either side of it must stay full of liquid and free of air, or the count drifts.
Warranty

Two years from purchase against defects in material and workmanship, per Fill-Rite's published 800 Series warranty. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Before a meter goes in for service it must be triple rinsed and accompanied by a note listing every fluid that has been through it. Talk to us before returning a meter so we can log it and arrange the right freight.

FAQs

Common questions.

Will this meter work on petrol as well as diesel?
Yes. The 800 Series is rated for diesel, petrol, kerosene, mineral turpentine, heptane and hexane. The standard builds take biodiesel to B20 and petrol to E15. If you are running higher blends, use the nickel plated 807CNL1, which handles biodiesel to B100, petrol to E85 and non-potable water. It is not compatible with bleach, hydrochloric acid, ink, sulfuric acid or salt water, and it is not for potable water or fuelling aircraft.
Can I use this meter to sell fuel?
No. The faceplate is marked not to be used to measure liquid for resale. These meters are built to record your own usage, so they suit fleet and plant fuel tracking, cost allocation and stock reconciliation. Selling fuel by measure in Australia needs a pattern approved, trade certified meter, which this is not.
What is the difference between the 806CL and the 807CL1?
Both take 1 inch BSP ports. The 807CL1 is the plain inline meter for a pumped line. The 806CL is the gravity feed model and carries an inlet strainer on top, which suits a tank that feeds by head rather than by pump and keeps grit out of the measuring chamber. The 806CL is also the taller of the two at 213 mm against 150 mm.
Does it need power or wiring?
No. The nutating disc is driven by the fluid itself and the counter is geared off it, so there is no battery, no wiring and no pulse output. If you need a pulse signal back to a controller or a fuel management system, look at an electronic or pulse meter instead and talk to us about what suits the line.
How accurate is it and can I adjust it?
Plus or minus 1 percent of reading, with 0.38 percent repeatability. It is field calibratable, so you are not sending it away. Fill a container of known volume, stop the flow and relieve pressure, remove the seal screw and turn the calibration screw. One full turn shifts the reading by about 0.4 litres. Recalibrate after any strip down and whenever you change the fluid being metered.
Do you stock parts for it?
Yes. The Fill-Rite 800 Series Meter Rebuild Kit covers the gears, chamber assembly and seals, and it is the usual fix when a meter reads high, reads low or stops turning. We can also get litre counters, cover assemblies and the 1 inch BSP strainer kit. Give us the model and the date of manufacture off the meter when you call.
