Product details

The Fill-Rite 900CD is a battery powered digital meter for fuel transfer, plumbed in line or bolted to a pump outlet. A nutating disc chamber does the measuring and a four digit LCD reads the batch, with two seven digit totalisers behind it, one you can reset and one you cannot. Units of measure are picked on the keypad, so the same meter reads litres, gallons, quarts, pints, ounces or a unit you define.

The whole range is intrinsically safe. The faceplate carries Ex ia, ATEX, IECEx, CE and cULus marking, and the meter is rated from -40 to 60 °C with the batteries fitted. Two AA alkaline cells run it for four to six years in normal use, and the memory holds the counts through a flat battery or a power loss.

Two builds add a pulser for fuel management systems. The 900CDPX1.5BSPT has the pulser on its own and suits a safe area. The 900CDP1.5BSPT includes the intrinsically safe barrier, which is mandatory anywhere explosive vapour can accumulate, and Fill-Rite calls out a minimum six metre circle around petrol pumping equipment. Both give ten counts per unit of measure in litres, gallons or quarts.

Features
  • Four Digit LCD: 19 mm digits read the batch from 0.01 to 9999 units, backlit on the pulser builds for poor light.

  • Units On The Keypad: Litres, gallons, quarts, pints, ounces or one unit you define, so the meter is not fixed to a register at the factory.

  • Two Totalisers: A seven digit master totaliser you cannot reset, plus a seven digit resettable one for job or shift totals.

  • Intrinsically Safe: Marked Ex ia, ATEX, IECEx, CE and cULus, rated -40 to 60 °C with batteries fitted.

  • Battery Powered: Two AA alkaline cells give four to six years in normal use, two to four on the pulser builds. Memory survives a power loss.

  • Rotating Head: Four Torx T25 screws and the electronic head turns in 90 degree steps, so one meter suits horizontal or vertical pipework.

  • Pulse Output Option: Ten counts per unit of measure in litres, gallons or quarts, for fuel management systems taking a current sink or contact closure signal.

  • Deep Sleep Mode: Stops the meter counting fluid while you flush the line or cart the unit over rough ground, and saves battery.
Included accessories

Supplied as a meter only, in the build you select.

Installation
  • Flow Direction: Meters are supplied for horizontal pipework with left to right flow. An arrow on the casting at the back of the meter shows the direction, and fluid must run that way for the meter to count.

  • Rotating The Head: Once the meter is plumbed in, remove the four screws on the corners of the face with a Torx T25 bit, rotate the head to the orientation you need and replace the screws. It sits in any of four positions, for horizontal or vertical pipe and either flow direction.

  • Mounting On A Pump: Kit versions carry a four hole flange base for 300 and 700 series pumps. Bolt through the two holes that line up with the pump outlet, then plug the two unused holes so moisture cannot get in.

  • Sealing: Seal every threaded joint with the appropriate sealant or sealant tape.

  • Pressure: Do not exceed 50 psi (3.5 bar) line pressure. Do not fit an additional foot valve or check valve without a pressure relief valve, or the meter can rupture.

  • Calibration: Calibrate on installation, after any strip down and whenever you change to a fluid of different viscosity. Hold CAL and TOTAL together for five seconds to enter calibration mode, press TOTAL to pick the unit, dispense into a container of known volume and key in the amount. The meter rejects anything more than 15 percent out and shows Err0.

  • Pulse Wiring: On the P and PX builds the wiring is a licensed electrician's job. Mains AC cannot reach the meter directly, it has to go through the intrinsically safe barrier, and the run between barrier and meter must not exceed 259 m.

  • Air: The meter and the pipework either side of it must stay full of liquid and free of air, or the count drifts and the disc can be damaged.
Warranty

Two years from purchase against defects in material and workmanship, per Fill-Rite's published 900 Series digital meter warranty. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Before a meter goes in for service it must be triple rinsed and accompanied by a note listing every fluid that has been through it. Talk to us before returning a meter so we can log it and arrange the right freight.

FAQs

Common questions.

Which build do I need, CD, CDPX or CDP?
If the meter is standalone and nobody is reading it into software, the plain 900CDBSPT or 900CD1.5BSPT is all you need. If it has to report to a fuel management system, you need a pulser. The 900CDPX1.5BSPT is the pulser on its own and suits a safe area. The 900CDP1.5BSPT adds the intrinsically safe barrier, which is mandatory anywhere explosive vapour can gather, and Fill-Rite calls out a minimum six metre circle around petrol pumping equipment.
Can I use this meter to sell fuel?
No. The faceplate is marked not to be used to measure liquid for resale. These meters are built to record your own usage, so they suit fleet and plant fuel tracking, cost allocation and stock reconciliation. Selling fuel by measure in Australia needs a pattern approved, trade certified meter, which this is not.
Does it read in litres or gallons?
Both, and you choose. Units of measure are set on the keypad rather than fixed at the factory, so the same meter reads litres, gallons, quarts, pints, ounces or a unit you define. Note that the pulse output only works in litres, gallons and quarts, not in ounces, pints or user defined units.
How long do the batteries last, and what happens when they go flat?
Two AA alkaline cells give four to six years in normal use, or two to four years on the pulser builds. The display shows BAT when they need changing, and the memory holds the counter and both totalisers through the change. Fill-Rite specify Duracell MN1500, Duracell MX1500 or Energizer E91 only, and batteries must be changed in a location known to be non-hazardous.
How accurate is it and can I adjust it?
Plus or minus 1.25 percent, with 0.25 percent repeatability at the calibrated flow rate. Calibration is done on the keypad against a container of known volume, anywhere between 23 and 151 litres a minute. The meter runs its own sanity check and rejects a calibration more than 15 percent out, showing Err0.
Do you stock parts for it?
Yes. The Fill-Rite 900CD Series Meter Rebuild Kit (900DKT) covers the chamber assembly, magnetic driver, gaskets and screws, and it is the usual fix when a meter reads high, reads low or stops counting. We can also get the meter to pump flange kit. Give us the model off the faceplate when you call.
