Can I still spray interior/exterior walls and ceilings?
Despite the FinishPro GX19 being designed for fine finish applications, the pump and motor can definitely handle your common water-based acrylics for spraying interior and exterior projects! That includes walls, ceilings, trim and exterior surfaces. As the sprayer package comes standard with a smaller-diameter 3/16" x 7.5m hose, we definitely recommend adding our 1/4" x 15m BlueMax II Airless Spray Hose for handling the thicker-viscosity acrylics!
What is this difference between the FinishPro GX19, and Air-Assisted Airless or HVLP Sprayers?
The FinishPro GX19 is first and foremost, an airless sprayer. It relies on the piston pump to generate a high amount of pressure to effectively atomise paint at the tip. The FinishPro GX19 differs by including Graco's cutting edge Fine Finish Low Pressure Tips, coupled with a smaller 3/16" diameter hose to make spraying trim and woodwork a piece of cake, due to less material being needed in the hose and the reduction in overspray as well as paint output. The overall weight and hopper-style of the unit allows for ultimate portability - which makes this unit perfect for small, to medium size interior sprayouts. HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) and Air-Assisted Airless sprayers fall within their own category. Air-Assisted Airless units still require high-pressure, but introduce a small amount of air (10-15 psi) through an inbuilt compressor to beautifully atomise paint and produce seamless gradients. As the air-line into the handpiece has been introduced, transfer efficiency and overall quality of finish increases. The HVLP operates off a similar principle, using a high volume of air (driven by a turbine) at low pressure to atomise the paint. These methods of application are slower by nature, but offer more advantages when looking to spray high-gloss enamels, acrylics, 2-pack paints, epoxies and more. Unsure of what's right for you?
