Product details

The Endurance Vortex is the ProConnect displacement pump fitted to the corded Graco Ultra and Ultra XT airless sprayers. Its displacement rod rotates as it strokes rather than running straight up and down, so the load is spread right around the throat and piston packings instead of sitting on one side of them. Even wear is what buys the packings their service life.

It suits the Ultra 390 in stand and hi-cart form, the Ultra 395, the Ultra 450, and the Ultra 490 XT and 495 XT in stand, lo-boy and hi-boy. Maximum fluid working pressure is 3300 psi (228 bar), through a 1.0 in fluid inlet and a 1/4 in outlet. Packings are Graco's V-Max Blue UHMWPE stacked with leather, running on a Chromex rod in a hardened stainless steel cylinder.

Two machines in the Ultra family take a different pump. The 390 PC Cordless (25T882) runs the standard Endurance Chromex pump, part 17C487, not this vortex one. The Ultra 650 XT takes the larger 2002382. Check the model badge on your sprayer before you order, or send us the serial number and we will confirm which pump it takes.

ProConnect is what makes this a swap rather than a workshop job. Relieve the pressure, back the retaining nut off, disconnect the hoses and slide the old pump out of the drive housing. A crew carrying a spare loses minutes to a worn pump instead of the rest of the day. When it is the packings that have gone and the rod and cylinder are still sound, the 18B260 repair kit and the 246429 carbide seat kit rebuild it in place.

Features
  • Auto-Rotating Vortex Rod: The displacement rod turns as it strokes, balancing the load across the packings so they wear evenly and run longer before repacking.

  • ProConnect Replacement System: The pump slides out of the drive housing once the retaining nut is backed off, which makes a pump change a jobsite task rather than a workshop strip-down.

  • Chromex Piston Rod: Hard chrome plated rod running in a hardened stainless steel cylinder, the wear pair Graco specifies across the Ultra range.

  • V-Max Blue Packings: Proprietary UHMWPE V-packings, individually supported, stacked with leather throat and piston packings.

  • Carbide Intake Seat: Tungsten carbide seat and stainless steel ball at the intake, renewed as a set with the 246429 seat kit.

  • Rated Duty: 3300 psi (228 bar, 22.8 MPa) maximum fluid working pressure, with a 1.0 in fluid inlet and a 1/4 in fluid outlet.

  • Rebuildable In Place: The 18B260 repair kit renews the packings without replacing the pump, so a worn pump does not always mean buying a new one.
Included accessories

Supplied as one complete, assembled ProConnect Endurance Vortex displacement pump, ready to fit to the sprayer:

  • Displacement rod (2004762) and pump cylinder (2004756), the parts specific to 19D873.
  • Throat packing stack: three V-Max Blue UHMWPE and two leather V-packings, with male and female glands.
  • Piston packing stack: three V-Max Blue UHMWPE and two leather V-packings, with male and female glands.
  • Intake valve housing with the tungsten carbide seat, stainless steel ball and o-ring fitted.
  • Piston valve, ball guide and packing nut, assembled and torqued.

The quick-disconnect pump fitting is not listed against 19D873 in the 334599N parts list, so carry the fitting across from the pump you are replacing. The 18B260 packing repair kit, the 246429 carbide seat kit and throat seal liquid are sold separately.

FAQs

Common questions.

Will this pump fit my sprayer?
It fits the corded Graco Ultra 390 in stand and hi-cart form, the Ultra 395, the Ultra 450, and the Ultra 490 XT and 495 XT in stand, lo-boy and hi-boy. Two machines in the range take a different pump: the 390 PC Cordless (25T882) uses 17C487, and the Ultra 650 XT uses 2002382. If you are not certain which model you have, send us the serial number off the sprayer and we will confirm it before you order.
What does the vortex rod actually do?
The displacement rod rotates as it strokes instead of moving straight up and down. That spreads the load right around the throat and piston packings rather than concentrating it on one side, so the packings wear evenly and run longer before they need renewing. It is the difference between this pump and the standard Endurance pump fitted to the cordless 390.
My pump has started leaking. Do I need a new one?
Not necessarily, and this is the first thing to try. Follow the pressure relief procedure in manual 334599N, then tighten the packing nut down until the leak stops or eases. Graco rates that adjustment for roughly another 100 gallons, about 380 litres, of spraying before a repack is due. The packing nut can be tightened without removing the o-ring or pulling the pump.
Should I replace the pump or rebuild it?
If the packings are worn and the rod and cylinder are still sound, the 18B260 repair kit renews the packings in place. If the intake seat is worn or damaged, the 246429 carbide seat kit covers the seat, ball and o-ring. Replace the whole pump when the rod or cylinder is scored, or when you want a spare on the truck so a failure never stops the job.
How long does a pump change take?
This is a ProConnect pump, so it is built to be changed on site. Relieve the pressure, back off the pump retaining nut, disconnect the outlet and suction hoses and slide the pump out of the drive housing. The replacement goes in the same way, then the retaining nut is tightened by hand and given a further 1/8 to 1/6 turn. Work through the pressure relief procedure in manual 334599N before you start.
What pressure is this pump rated to?
3300 psi, which is 228 bar or 22.8 MPa. The fluid inlet is 1.0 in diameter and the outlet is 1/4 in. Every hose, gun and accessory in the system needs to be rated to at least 3300 psi as well.
