Type B-HR drop-on glass beads for reflectorising fresh line marking. Beads are broadcast into the wet paint film so they sit proud of the surface, and it is those beads, not the paint, that return headlight light to the driver. Paint alone reads black at night.
ATS 4110 clause 5.12 permits Type B-HR, C-HR and D-HR. Type B-HR is the general drop-on grade specified for new markings, C roads and roadmarking, which covers most council and contractor work. The higher-cost D-HR grade is the wet-night high-refractive bead and is only called for where the specification names it.
Supplied in 20 kg bags. At the VicRoads minimum retention of 250 g/m2, one kilometre of 100 mm line takes about 25 kg, so a 20 kg bag covers roughly 800 m. Talk to our team on 07 3204 2240 if you need help sizing a job or matching the grade to a specification.

- Type B-HR Drop-On: The general-purpose drop-on grade under ATS 4110 clause 5.12, suited to new markings, C roads and general roadmarking.
- Retroreflectivity: Returns headlight light to the driver so the line stays readable at night. Without beads a fresh marking reads black after dark.
- Bead Embedment: Broadcast into the wet film while the paint is still open. Aim for roughly 60 per cent embedment so the bead is held but still proud of the surface.
- Application Rate: 250 g/m2 is the VicRoads minimum retention. That works out to about 25 kg per kilometre of 100 mm line.
- 20 kg Bags: Roughly 800 m of 100 mm line per bag at the minimum rate, so a pallet covers a serious run of work.
- Suits Waterborne And Solvent Paint: Works with the waterborne and solvent-borne road marking paints we stock, applied through a drop-on bead dispenser.
