FAQs

Common questions answered.

Five of the questions we hear most often on carpark and street linemarking gear. Full knowledge base on our FAQ page.

  • What is a self bunded fuel tank?

A self bunded fuel tank has two skins: an inner tank that holds the fuel and an outer skin sized to contain at least 110% of the inner tank's volume. If the inner shell ever leaks, the bund catches the spill before it reaches the ground. That removes the cost and footprint of a separate concrete or earthen bund and lets the tank ship as a complete, ready-to-install package.

  • How does a self bunded tank prevent fuel leaks?

The outer skin acts as the secondary containment that AS 1940:2017 requires for above-ground bulk fuel. An interstitial space sits between the two walls and is monitored through a dedicated dip point on every GO tank, so a wet reading there flags an inner-shell breach before any fuel can escape the outer bund. The bund itself is sized at 110% of the inner volume so it can absorb the full tank's contents plus rainfall ingress and still meet the standard.

  • Are self bunded tanks compliant with Australian standards?

Yes. Every tank in this range is built and labelled to AS 1940:2017 (the Australian standard for storage and handling of flammable and combustible liquids). The GO BOX range is additionally certified to AS 1692 (steel tanks for flammable liquids), AS 1170 and AS 4100 (structural), AS/NZS 1554.1 (welding), and the international UL142, ULC-S601 and BS799 standards. UN3A/Y transport approval covers GO BOX up to 3,300 L.

  • What sizes are available for self bunded fuel tanks?

The GO range covers 220 L through 110,000 L. The smallest is the GO GEN base tank built to sit under a generator. The portable GO BOX runs from 250 L through 11,000 L in eleven steps. GO STORE covers permanent depot use from 5,500 to 16,000 L. GO Fire Rated runs 1,000 L to 52,255 L for indoor or close-to-boundary installs. GO CON containerised tanks reach 110,000 L in 10, 20, 40, and 48 foot ISO container footprints.

  • Can self bunded tanks be used for multiple fuel types?

Most ranges accept diesel, kerosene, lubricants, and waste oil interchangeably because the epoxy lining resists those fluids. AdBlue and DEF need a purpose-built tank, so use the GO AdBlue HD range, or a GO Containerised Diesel/AdBlue tank that splits the compartment so a single unit holds both. Petrol storage is permitted but the dispensing equipment must be explosion-proof rated; we configure pump packages on a per-site basis.

Choosing the Right Self Bunded Fuel Tank

The right tank depends on three things: how much fuel you store, where it sits, and what you keep in it.

Capacity. Generator base tanks start at 220 L. The portable GO BOX covers 250 L to 11,000 L with crane lifting lugs and four-way forklift pockets so it can move with the work. GO STORE suits a permanent depot at 5,500 to 16,000 L. For bulk fuel farms, GO CON spans 12,000 L through 110,000 L in standard 10, 20, 40, and 48 foot ISO container footprints, CSC-plated for road, rail, and sea movement.

Site rules. AS 1940:2017 governs separation distance from boundaries, ignition sources, and buildings. If you need to install closer to a boundary or indoors, the Fire Rated range carries a UL2085 four-hour fire rating that drops the AS 1940 minimum separation to 2 m at boundaries and 1 m at fences, and is permitted indoors under Clause 5.6.2(c) for Class 3 dangerous goods.

Fluid. Diesel, kerosene, lubricants, and waste oil run in any model. AdBlue (DEF) needs the dedicated GO AdBlue HD range or a multi-compartment GO Containerised Diesel/AdBlue tank. Petrol storage requires explosion-proof dispensing equipment, so talk to us before you spec the pump.

Every GO range is built from 4 mm Q235B mild steel, pressure-tested between 25 and 35 kPa, finished in AS N14 white marine epoxy, and ships with suction spears with foot valves, return sockets, calibrated dipstick, lockable hatch, and AS 1940 / AS 1692 labelling already in place.
