Double acting bead spray gun 24G979 drops glass beads onto the wet line on RoadLazer RoadPak and RoadPak HD truck-mount striping systems. It mounts on the RoadPak gun arm beside the paint gun, fires when the controller sends trigger air, and meters bead flow through an interchangeable valve seat from 0.170 to 0.420 in.

Bead delivery is set by the seat size and the bead tank pressure, 30 to 75 psi, for an output of 0.9 to 18 kg/min. Graco sets 0.280 in. as the minimum seat for reflective beads and double drop work, as smaller seats clog. Always run a catch test on the job and adjust tank pressure or seat size to suit.

Set trigger air to at least 80 psi. Needle, seal nut and o-rings are rebuilt with repair kit 238340. Nozzle selection charts and service steps are in manual 308612 below.

Which machines does this gun suit?
RoadLazer RoadPak and RoadPak HD truck-mount striping systems. It is the bead gun fitted to RoadPak gun arms 25M708, 25M709 and 25M710, paired with the 24G980 paint gun.
Which valve seat should I use?
Pick the seat from the bead delivery you need at your travel speed, leaving room to adjust tank pressure up or down. Graco sets 0.280 in. as the minimum for reflective beads and double drop work, as smaller seats clog. Seat kits with o-ring are 17V103 (0.170), 238663 (0.203), 238666 (0.234), 238664 (0.280), 238665 (0.344) and 243668 (0.420). Chat with us if a seat kit is not on the website.
How do I set the bead rate?
Bead output is set by seat size and bead tank pressure, between 30 and 75 psi. Run a timed catch into a container at your working pressure, weigh it, and compare against the rate your line width, film build and travel speed need. Adjust tank pressure first and change seat size if you run out of range.
What is the difference between the single acting and double acting gun?
Both are RoadPak bead guns rated to 200 psi and use the same seats and repair kit. The single acting 238338 needs at least 50 psi trigger air and the double acting 24G979 needs at least 80 psi. Match the gun already on your arm, the part number is on the gun body.
How do I look after it?
Wipe the outside clean with a cloth dampened in a compatible solvent. Never soak the whole gun in solvent, as it strips the lubricant and damages the seals. Keep the bead supply dry, and blow a hardened particle out of the orifice from the front with air.
When does it need a rebuild?
If the gun keeps dropping beads after the trigger air drops, or will not fire with good air pressure, the needle, seal or seat is worn or binding. Repair kit 238340 replaces the needle, seal nut and o-rings. Relieve bead tank pressure first and follow manual 308612.
