Product details

iGecko is the top of the iQuip tape range and the one to reach for when the finish has to be right. The backing is Japanese washi, a thin, strong paper that lays down flat and gives a razor sharp line with zero paint bleed. Made in Japan.

Thin does not mean fragile here. iGecko comes off in one piece rather than shredding, which is the difference that matters when you are stripping tape off finished cabinetry and cannot afford to pick at it. Medium tack acrylic adhesive, and it is rated to leave no residue for 180 plus days, six times the window on Envo Tape.

It is also waterproof and holds at 100 degrees, so it handles wet trades and warm conditions that would soften a standard paper tape. Four widths on 50m rolls. It costs more than Envo, and on high end joinery and detailed work it earns the difference.

Features
  • Japanese Washi Backing: Thin, strong paper that lays flat and cuts a razor sharp line with zero paint bleed.

  • 180 Plus Days, No Residue: Six times the clean release window of Envo Tape, so long running jobs and staged work are not a problem.

  • Effortless No-Tear Removal: Comes away in one piece instead of shredding, which is what you want when the surface underneath is finished joinery.

  • Waterproof: Holds through wet trades and washdown without the backing breaking up.

  • 100 Degree Resistant: Rated to hold at 100 degrees, so warm conditions do not soften it off the surface.

  • Medium Tack Acrylic: Grip enough to hold the line, controlled enough to leave the surface beneath it intact.

  • Made In Japan: Four widths on 50m rolls: 18mm, 24mm, 36mm and 48mm.

FAQs

Common questions.

Why does iGecko cost more than Envo Tape?
Different backing and a different rating. iGecko runs a Japanese washi backing instead of flat paper, which is thinner, stronger and gives a sharper line. It is rated to 180 plus days against 30 for Envo, it is waterproof, it holds at 100 degrees, and it will not tear when you pull it. On cabinetry and high end finishing that is the difference between a clean job and an afternoon of touch ups.
Is this the same as the Japanese Washi Tape I bought before?
Yes. It is the same tape under the iGecko name. Japanese washi is the backing material, iGecko is what iQuip now calls the product. Same part numbers, 16JWT18 through 16JWT48.
Will it leave residue?
Not within its rating. It is rated to release with no residue for 180 plus days, which is the longest window in the iQuip tape range.
Can I use it outdoors and in the wet?
Yes. It is waterproof and UV stable, and it holds at 100 degrees. That covers outdoor work, wet trades and warm conditions.
Which width for cabinetry?
18mm and 24mm are the usual choice for detailed joinery and glazing bars. Step up to 36mm or 48mm where you also need the tape to hold masking film or paper.
Does it tear when removing?
No. No-tear removal is the point of the washi backing. It lifts in one piece rather than shredding, which is what separates it from a standard paper tape.
