Product details

Double acting paint spray gun 24G980 is the air actuated paint gun Graco fits to RoadLazer RoadPak and RoadPak HD truck-mount striping systems. It mounts on the RoadPak gun arm, fires when the controller sends trigger air, and is rated to 3000 psi with road paint sprayed at 1500 to 2000 psi.

The gun takes the 243161 RAC 5 tip guard and LL5 RAC 5 SwitchTips, so a blocked tip can be reversed and cleared at the roadside. Tip size is set by line width and travel speed. For a 150 mm line Graco recommends LL5439 at 5 to 6 km/h and LL5443 at 8 km/h, based on a 0.38 mm (15 mil) wet film. RoadPak gun arms ship with LL5335, LL5439 and LL5643 tips for each paint gun.

Use it to add a gun to an arm, replace a damaged gun or keep a spare on the truck. Set trigger air to at least 75 psi. Needle, seat and packings are rebuilt with repair kit 238339, and the service steps are in manual 308613 below.

Features
  • RoadPak Factory Fitment: The paint gun Graco fits to RoadPak gun arms 25M708, 25M709 and 25M710, two or three per arm.

  • 3000 PSI Rated: 210 bar maximum working pressure. Graco recommends 1500 to 2000 psi for road marking paint.

  • RAC 5 Tip System: Takes the 243161 guard and LL5 SwitchTips. Turn the tip to clear a blockage without pulling the gun off the arm.

  • Double Acting Air Cylinder: 75 psi minimum trigger air, 200 psi maximum, through a 1/4 in. NPT(F) air inlet.

  • Toolless Handle: Tooless handle 25D347 lets the valve housing come off for cleaning and service.

  • Rebuildable: Needle, seat, packings and o-rings are all in repair kit 238339, so a worn gun can be rebuilt instead of replaced.

FAQs

Common questions.

Which machines does this gun suit?
RoadLazer RoadPak and RoadPak HD truck-mount striping systems. It is the paint gun fitted to RoadPak gun arms 25M708, 25M709 and 25M710.
Which tip should I run?
Tip size follows line width and travel speed. For a 150 mm line Graco recommends LL5439 at 5 to 6 km/h and LL5443 at 8 km/h, at 1500 to 2000 psi and a 0.38 mm (15 mil) wet film. For a 100 mm line use an LL53 series tip and step the orifice up as speed rises. RoadPak gun arms ship with LL5335, LL5439 and LL5643 tips. Paint viscosity changes flow, so check the line on a test run before marking.
Is the tip guard included?
The gun is supplied with a 243161 RAC 5 guard. Spray tips are sold separately. Keep a spare guard and a set of LL5 RAC 5 SwitchTips on the truck, as tips are a wear item and a worn tip widens the line and thins the film.
What is the difference between the single acting and double acting gun?
Both are RoadPak paint guns rated to 3000 psi and use the same tip guard, tips and repair kit. The single acting 238377 needs at least 50 psi trigger air and the double acting 24G980 needs at least 75 psi. Match the gun already on your arm, the part number is on the gun body.
How do I look after it?
Flush the gun daily with a compatible solvent until no paint is left in the passages. Before each use, spray a little oil inside the protection tube to stop paint building up on the packings. Never soak the whole gun in solvent, as it strips the lubricant and damages the packings. Blow a hardened particle out of the orifice from the front with air.
When does it need a rebuild?
If the gun keeps spraying after the trigger air drops, or will not spray with good air and fluid pressure, the needle, seat or packings are worn or binding. Repair kit 238339 replaces all of them. Relieve pressure first and follow manual 308613 for packing order.
Can GO Industrial service it for me?
Yes. Our Deception Bay workshop services Graco line striping systems and we are an Authorised Graco Warranty Repairer and Service Centre. Send the gun in on its own or book the whole rig through. Chat with us or email sales@goind.com.au to get it booked.
