Product details

Valve assembly 287879 is the prime and drain valve on the RPS 2900 filter assembly fitted to RoadLazer RoadPak and RoadPak HD line striping systems. It is the valve the operator turns to switch between priming and spraying, and the one that drains the filter housing at pack-up.

Supplied as a complete assembly with its gasket, so the valve body, stem and seal go on as one unit rather than being rebuilt in the field. A valve that will not seal in the closed or spray position bleeds pressure back through the filter housing and costs you line quality, so it is worth replacing rather than nursing.

RoadPak carries one RPS 2900 filter assembly, RoadPak HD carries two. Position and part breakdown are in RoadPak parts manual 3A5386, filter assembly 24G986, reference 240P.

Features
  • Complete Assembly: Supplied as a full valve assembly with its gasket, so there is no stripping or rebuilding of the old valve on the truck.

  • Prime and Spray Control: The valve the operator turns to switch the system between priming and spraying, and to drain the filter housing at pack-up.

  • Genuine Graco Part: Supplied as Graco part 287879, so the seat and stem seal to the filter base the way the system was built to.

  • Filter Assembly Fit: Fits the RPS 2900 filter assembly (24G986), reference 240P, on RoadPak and RoadPak HD.

  • One Per Filter: RoadPak runs one filter assembly, RoadPak HD runs two, so a full HD changeover takes a pair.

FAQs

Common questions.

Which RoadPak units does this valve suit?
RoadLazer RoadPak (25M701, 25M702, 25M703, 25M704, 25M705) and RoadPak HD (25M706, 25M707). RoadPak runs one RPS 2900 pump, RoadPak HD runs two. It fits the RPS 2900 filter assembly (24G986) at reference 240P. RoadPak carries one filter assembly and RoadPak HD carries two, so a full HD changeover needs a pair.
Is this the prime valve or the drain valve?
Both. Graco lists it as the drain valve assembly in the parts manual and labels it the Prime/Spray Valve on the controls, because the same valve switches the system between priming and spraying and drains the filter housing at pack-up.
Can I use the filter drain valves to relieve system pressure?
No. Graco is explicit that pressure must be relieved through the guns, not the filter drain valves. Using them to dump pressure damages the valve and stops it sealing in the closed and spray positions, which is the most common reason these need replacing.
What else is worth replacing at the same time?
The 30 mesh filter element (244071) and the valve seat (193709) sit in the same filter assembly and are the usual companions on a service. The seat seal (193710), spring (114708), handle (15G563) and cap nut (116424) are also available if the assembly has been run hard.
How do I know the valve has failed?
The usual signs are paint bleeding past the valve in the closed or spray position, pressure that will not build or hold at the guns, or a handle that has gone sloppy and no longer indexes cleanly between prime and spray.
Can GO Industrial do the work for me?
Yes. Our Deception Bay workshop services Graco line striping systems and we are an Authorised Graco Warranty Repairer and Service Centre. Send the pump in on its own or book the whole rig through. Chat with us or email sales@goind.com.au to get it booked.
