Product details

Intake valve repair kit 287838 replaces the carbide seat at the foot of displacement pump 287834, the lower inside the RPS 2900 pump fitted to RoadLazer RoadPak and RoadPak HD line striping systems. It is supplied as a complete kit with the carbide seat, the 38.1 mm stainless intake ball and the o-ring packing, so the whole intake end goes back together in one hit.

The intake valve is the first thing to suffer on a striping pump. It takes the full load of abrasive traffic paint on every up stroke, and once the seat is pitted the pump loses prime, struggles to pick up out of the drum, or drops pressure on the up stroke. Carbide is used here precisely because it outlasts steel in that duty.

Unlike the piston valve kit, this one includes its ball. Position and rebuild procedure are in manual 311485 below, reference 212.

Features
  • Carbide Seat: Carbide is used at the intake because it outlasts steel against the abrasive load of traffic paint on every up stroke.

  • Ball Included: Comes with the 38.1 mm | 1.5 in stainless intake ball, so the seat and the ball are replaced as a matched pair rather than bedding a new ball onto an old seat.

  • O-Ring Included: Carries the o-ring packing that seals the seat into the intake housing, so the intake end goes back together in one hit.

  • Restores Prime: Fixes the usual symptoms of a pitted seat, which are loss of prime, poor pickup out of the drum, and pressure dropping on the up stroke.

  • Fits Both Rigs: Suits the 287834 lower whether it is running in a RoadPak striping system or a GH 833 gas hydraulic sprayer.

FAQs

Common questions.

Which RoadPak units does this kit suit?
RoadLazer RoadPak (25M701, 25M702, 25M703, 25M704, 25M705) and RoadPak HD (25M706, 25M707). RoadPak runs one RPS 2900 pump, RoadPak HD runs two. It replaces the carbide intake seat in displacement pump 287834, the lower inside the RPS 2900 pump those systems run. The same lower is fitted to the GH 833 and GH 833ES gas hydraulic sprayers.
What is in the kit?
The carbide intake seat, the 38.1 mm stainless intake ball (108001) and the o-ring packing (116377). Unlike the piston valve kit, this one includes its ball, so the seat and ball are replaced as a matched pair.
How do I know the intake seat has gone?
Loss of prime, the pump struggling to pick up out of the drum, or pressure dropping on the up stroke. The intake takes the full abrasive load of traffic paint on every up stroke, so it is usually the first valve to wear on a striping pump.
Why carbide rather than steel?
Carbide holds its seating face far longer against abrasive, heavily pigmented traffic paints. A steel seat pits quickly in that duty and the ball then stops sealing, which is what costs you prime and pressure.
What else should I do while the pump is apart?
Repack it. Kit 287835 carries both packing stacks and Graco calls for packings to be replaced seasonally. Check the piston valve at the other end, kit 287837 covers that. If the cylinder bore or the piston rod is scored, the full lower (287834) is the fix.
Can GO Industrial do the work for me?
Yes. Our Deception Bay workshop services Graco line striping systems and we are an Authorised Graco Warranty Repairer and Service Centre. Send the pump in on its own or book the whole rig through. Chat with us or email sales@goind.com.au to get it booked.
